Burrito just turned 26, which hardly makes him young. But we all know he is just a kid at heart. Below is some evidence… sometimes the best birthday gifts are the packages the gifts come in. What a nut 🙂

Burrito’s Birthday Bash?
Shelly Campbell emailed earlier today with a great notion – if everyone who regularly reads the blog gave a few bucks towards Burrito’s birthday, we could throw him one heck of a party. There’s not much time – his birthday is January 6th. Shelly’s already mailed a check for $10. If anyone’s interested in contributing toward the Burrito Birthday fund, you can donate online or by mail (PO Box 952, Cle Elum, WA 98922). If you want, you can respond to this post and let us know you’re sending some celebratory funds this way. We will, of course, share the party with you. Burrito cannot contain his excitement, and we’re sure to get some great footage of the birthday boy in action.
I know Burrito has a big fan club out there – he’s a pretty loveable guy. Even his chimpanzee friends would agree (below is a photo from today of Missy grooming him, with Annie looking on).
and don’t forget you can get note cards with Burrito’s handsome face (see below) in our store
Mirror!
Some lovely folks on the forum got together and raised enough money for us to purchase a big acrylic mirror for the chimps. We haven’t mounted it yet, but we’ve been propping it up so the chimps can see themselves – their whole selves! Michelle in Alaska just purchased a second one for us!! I can’t wait to mount them! Below is a photo of Jody from today checking out her mouth.
Foxie and Negra
Foxie continues to change… on Saturday, J.B. and I saw her display for the first time! She pant-hooted and even banged on the plexiglass window the way that Burrito does when he displays outside. I thought I was seeing things for a moment. Foxie is gaining so much confidence and obviously feeling more comfortable – I can’t wait to see what she does next!
Below is a photo of Foxie outside shortly after her display, with Negra behind her draped in a blanket.
And here is Negra – a photo I recently found and edited. I wish I could put into words how special and beautiful Negra is, but with images like this, maybe I don’t need words.
Washer/Dryer Fund update
Wow! We have received $2265 for the industrial washer and dryer and we know of another $250 on the way! I am so thrilled. It has all been through the blog community – from people who are avid CSNW blog readers and their friends. Thank you so much!! We’re very close to having a washer and dryer that can withstand the costant laundry we do in the chimp house. Thank you Margaret and Karen for starting this fundraising effort!
PAWSwalk – more fun that a hangar full of dogs
Keith and I manned and womanned the CSNW booth at PAWSwalk yesterday. I had no idea I was going to have so much fun. Keith has been going for years, but this was my first time. We talked to so many wonderful people and I must have patted hundreds of dogs. The Seattle ‘animal community’ is awesome, and PAWS is an organization to admire. Hopefully there are a few new friends on the blog today that stopped by our booth yesterday. I hope to see you at the walk next year too!

Jamie has a new hobby – playing in the sandbox that Kathy B. brought her
Keith put more straw in the outdoor area today and Jody was one happy chimpanzee. She even brought some inside with her to make a nest. Jody often lays on her back holding her feet.
