Spring grass

April 10, 2010 by Diana

We’ve had some crazy weather here the last few weeks. Today, though, actually felt like Spring. Most of the snow melted and revealed patches of grass, which Annie spotted when the human door to the greenhouse was opened. Annie loves grass, as you know from last spring and summer, so J.B. felt he had to give everyone a taste.

GoodSearch Giveaway – only 3 days to act!

April 6, 2010 by Diana

Next time you’re surfing the web or shopping online, ask yourself: “did I just help the Cle Elum Seven chimpanzees?”

Download the Chimpanzee Sanctuary Northwest toolbar from GoodSearch today and we’ll get a dollar. Then use GoodSearch to surf and GoodShop for all of your online shopping and  we’ll continue to get money. GoodSearch has generated big bucks for some organizations, let’s make CSNW one of them!

Here are the details of the promotion from GoodSearch:

GoodSearch will donate a $1 for every toolbar that is downloaded between April 6th at 9am EDT and April 9th at 9am EDT up to $5,000!! Download the toolbar right now by following this link – http://www.goodsearch.com/toolbar/chimpanzee-sanctuary-northwest

The toolbar is free to download and allows you to raise money for our cause every time you search or shop online. Once added to IE or Firefox, each time you shop at more than 1,300 stores (from Amazon to Zazzle) a percentage of your purchase will automatically be donated to Chimpanzee Sanctuary Northwest – at no cost to you (and you may even save money as the toolbar provides coupons and deals as well!). The toolbar also has a search box and each time you search the Internet, about a penny is donated to the sanctuary.

Please hurry and do this now so that we can earn the $1 bonus per toolbar!

And, please pass this along to all of your friends. The two minutes it takes to add this toolbar to your browser can make a lifetime of difference for our cause!

Get the toolbar NOW! http://www.goodsearch.com/toolbar/chimpanzee-sanctuary-northwest

Fundraising exciting news

April 6, 2010 by Diana

Check out the just updated fundraising banana! Thanks to a $5,000 grant from the Hugh and Jane Ferguson Foundation, the total for our fundraising is up to $13,435!

With 68 days to go, we are $31,565 away from our ultimate goal and three more chimpanzee-proof windows.

Now is the time to really get moving on those fundraising ideas you have in the back of your head and spreading the word about our 2nd Anniversary Fundraising. If you need inspiration, here are a couple of examples of supporters already raising funds:

  • Margaret Parkinson’s firstgiving page. Margaret is giving away art cards with prints of the Cle Elum Seven chimpanzees with a $30 donation.
  • Tamela’s Art Under Glass Etsy store. Tamela is donating all net proceeds from sales from now until the end of June of all of the handmade jewelry and other items for sale through her Etsy store. She’ll be adding more items, so check back often.

And, just because I had so much fun keeping you in suspense, we do have other exciting news unrelated to the anniversary fundraising. We’ll be sending out a e-newsletter soon with information about the great stuff that is going on. Sign up if you aren’t already.

Spring is here

April 5, 2010 by Elizabeth

The chimpanzees loved their Easter/spring party yesterday. On the menu: baby carrots, tomatoes, mini cucumbers, chow biscuits, nuts, strawberries, blackberries, greens, bread, limes, popcorn, homemade banana chips, oranges, egg rolls, and pomegranate juice. Thanks to friends Robbi, Dick, and Stephanie for making this extravaganza possible!

Mr. B.

April 3, 2010 by Diana

Our coaxing and encouragement to get Burrito to spend time in the greenhouse (largely based on Burrito’s favorite activity – eating) has been really successful. Here are a couple of photos of Mr B. in the greenhouse from the cabbage wrap dinner the other night.
