I Spy

December 14, 2024 by Sabrina

Over the past few months, I’ve noticed an interesting behavior from Willy B. He often sits by a window in one of his front rooms, where he appears to be watching the camera monitor that shows his group’s activities.
At first, I wasn’t completely sure about his intentions. But recently, during a morning conflict within his group, his behavior confirmed my suspicions. When a commotion started, Willy B checked several windows, trying to get a direct view of the situation. After a minute of searching, he settled in his usual spot – right by the window that overlooks the hallway’s camera monitor.
This incident has convinced me that Willy B is deliberately using the cameras to monitor his group throughout the day. He’s found a clever way to keep track of everyone’s activities, even when they’re not directly in his line of sight.
I was able to capture this in a couple short video clips for today’s video in addition to an exciting play session between Gordo and Honey B, which seems to becoming a daily occurrence.

I want to give a big thank you to Kathleen C. for her winning bid on the Jamie & Her Boot throw for the chimps and to Tammi F for winning the hooded moose blanket! Jamie’s group received both items today and while we didn’t get any photos of them interacting with these blankets yet we hope to see them in some nests tomorrow morning!

Lucky’s 33rd Birthday!

November 6, 2024 by Sabrina

Today is Lucky’s 33rd birthday! We celebrated with a gum forage (her favorite), mangoes, sparkling cider, and bonobo books!

Lucky is such a sweet chimpanzee. She is simultaneously gentle and fierce, caring and reserved, silly and serious, sensitive and takes no crap. She is multifaceted!

Lucky is one of the first to greet caregivers when they walk into the room by grunting and shaking her head back and forth because she’s so excited. Lucky is so great at making us caregivers feel appreciated!

We love you, Lucky! Happy 33rd Birthday!

Don’t forget to check out our Comfort & Joy Quid Pro Throw online auction! We’re adding new items daily. We have some true Quid Pro Throw items listed, including this satin scarf featuring a painting of Rayne done by one of our caregivers, Ellen. You can bid on one for yourself and also on one for the chimps!

Rayne: Supportive Queen

October 18, 2024 by Sabrina

We have talked quite a bit about issues that arise when shifting the chimps around in their areas, but recently I had to delay shifting because Honey B was busy entertaining herself out on the Bray, what unfolded over the 30 or so minutes that followed very much made the delay worth it. You can check it out in today’s video!

Paper Party!

September 28, 2024 by Sabrina

Lately we’ve been getting large bags of paper donated to us by one of our local stores, Jerrol’s, who we get supplies from and have a wish list through. So yesterday we had a paper party for Cy’s group of 9 and put some of their lunch forage in the paper for them to search for and they had a blast, especially Lucky!

A Jolly Good Time

September 20, 2024 by Sabrina

As we all know, Burrito has a serious obsession with his beloved Jolly ball. We have to take it away from him periodically to give everything a good scrub and disinfect, but that just builds up the anticipation for when they’re reunited again. Well, today was the day Bubba got his prized possession back. We couldn’t resist grabbing the cameras to capture the fun and excitment for you all to see in today’s video!

The Simple Things

September 17, 2024 by Sabrina

Sometimes some of the best things in life are the simplest. I recently bought a heavy duty crate for my dog because he is a little destructive sometimes when alone. It was a little expensive, which is sad for me BUT there’s always an upside! The boxes the crate came in were massive so I knew the perfect solution: bring the boxes to the chimps..

Lucky enjoy her private accommodations:

Until….

And later Cy used the boxes as a fort to create a private reading space for himself:

Don’t forget to tune in for a discussion of episode four of Chimp Crazy!

And be sure to check out our wishlists!
