As everyone knows by now, Cy’s group is in the midst of a reintroduction to foster a more cohesive social group. Presently, Terry, Gordo, Dora, Mave, and Honey B form a subgroup of five. Join us today as we catch up with Dora and company, excluding Gordo who must have had prior commitments, in today’s video!

Does anyone seem upset that the group is seperated?

I saw the video a while ago, so I forgot about this. Her sock made me think of it.
ENRICHMENT IDEA: You take small cups, like a 4 oz can of diced chiles or a can of pudding. (I don’t see why a plastic cup wouldn’t work if you get the right paint.) You paint it like a snowman. Normally, you would use an orange thumbtack for the carrot nose, but we can’t have that with the chimps. Then you cut off the end of a child’s sock, baste it closed at 1 end and snip it like a pom pom. The other part of the sock stretches over the can, and you put treats inside of the can. In the past, I’ve gifted friends chocolate kisses or something like that inside, obviously with the chimps, it would be raisins, popcorn, or peanuts. Maybe this could be done for Christmas, for fun foraging? Or any winter day.
I also wondered if the chimps have ever had 48 fun forage, a p b and j day? Unsweetened fruit preserves and peanut butter on bits of toasted ezekiel, or whole grain bread. Sounds like a fun idea for a tea party in the winter.

I am really enjoying this little grouping! Terry is so sweet. The expression on his face as he giggles with Honey B…..not to mention the floof on the back of his shoulders and the top of his head….it’s all sheer perfection. Dora enjoying her sock (“101 fun things to do with a sock” by Dora Chimpanzee) reminded me of Burrito. It’s a real treat to see one of the chimps just having fun all by themselves. Or, in Mave’s case, just relaxing with your feet up in the air, doing your own thing in the middle of everything going on around you. (Sometimes I feel as if Mave and Meredith have the same approach to life.) And then there’s Honey B whose laughter is contagious.

Always lovely to see the girl gang (plus Terry) just hanging out! Terry, Honey B, and Dora had a CRAZY play session, but queen of relaxation Mave was simply the picture of comfort! Seriously, that girl knows how to lounge!

I am also not clear on the reason for the separation. Thank you!

the reontegration is a couple of weeks old now, I think.
For a long time now, Willie B has been causing chaos at approximately 3 PM just about every day. Usually, he starts Terry or Gordo to get it going. He knows he’s second banana to Cy, but he seems to have trouble figuring out where he fits otherwise. so they separated him and Cy and are reintroducing, each member of the troop one at a time, observing the dynamic each time, so that he has some sense of where he is in the hierarchy of things. They are hoping that this will give him less motivation to cause a ruckus, and a scuffle every day. And at least that’s what I understood, and I hope I have it correctly.

Cynthia, to expand upon Linda’s helpful teply, click on the word “reintroductions” in this post and it will direct you to detailed explanation by J.B. that is very interseting.

WHO WOULD HAVE IMAGINED THAT A, SIMPLE, SOCK WOULD BE SO, ENTERTAINING. A, WONDERFUL, FORM OF STIMULATION AND ENRICHMENT.
