I was scrolling through my phone and found a collection of portrait photos of Jamie. Jamie is a person to know. I think anyone who has met Jamie will agree with me that there is no one like her. She is simply the best.

Willy B

Willy B, Mave, and Honey B are adjusting to the construction next door. Yesterday, after construction subsided Willy B found sometime to unwind. He laid on the floor while we looked through photos of chimps at other sanctuaries.

If anyone is curious about how to help we are dangerously low on Jerrol’s gift-cards. Jerrol’s is a local business where we are currently getting our cleaning gloves from and we are getting low on gloves too! Foxie and Missy have some birthdays coming up in August, so make sure to look out on the Wish List for birthday items!

When the humans are cleaning that is when the chimps have the most fun! Sometimes you will catch a glimpse of their play session and get the chance to capture it on film and often once they have noticed you noticed, they will stop. Luckily, for us Honey B and Mave kept on playing even when they noticed me watching them. If you have your volume on you will hear them breathy panting. Have a great weekend and stay safe!

 

A Day Outside

Yesterday was World Chimpanzee Day! If you missed Chad’s blog yesterday, make sure you give it a read! Currently, we are doing some much needed revamping in the playroom. So the chimps have been spending quite a lot of time in the green house, front rooms, and Young’s Hill. They are patiently waiting so far, but these chimps are really looking forward to going back into the playroom soon! Thankfully, we have been blessed with some warm weather! I think the chimps approved.

To Know Honey B

Be loud. Be proud. Be different. Honey B might be a great example of this. Every chimp is unique. They have different preferences, needs, and wants.

Honey B is unlike anyone I have ever met. She is a goof, but she also needs you to take her seriously. She knows what she likes, but is curious to try most new things. She is curious but questions everything. She is always up to something which keeps us on our toes. She is funny and knows it. She seems comfortable with who she is. Honey B has a certain level of intensity that pulls you in or better yet draws you in. I am constantly mesmerized by her. Sometimes it’s because she creatively used enrichment, often it’s because we just played a crazy game of chase that turned into her making up new moves, I actually have a very hard time not laughing out loud when she does something crazy awesome, and other times it’s the intensity of her grooming you. When she grooms you, you are the only one in the room. Honey B is a loyal friend to have, however, Honey B also knows how to stir the pot and then watch the chaos unfold. Also, we can’t forget her incredible fashion sense! Everyday with Honey B is an adventure and life with her is never dull day.

Can you Guess it?

Staff caregiver Chad and I were sharing some photos that we had taken recently that you will see below. They are of two individuals’ lips giving a kiss. We thought it might be fun to play a guessing game. How well do you know the chimp’s facial features? I won’t lie to you, this one might be a challenge, so I will give just a few clues. Later tonight I will post in the comments on the blog and Facebook to reveal the correct answers. Good luck!

1. This chimp is crazy silly and playful but gives the sweetest kisses. Rarely do we see this person sitting still. Not every chimp has freckles like these!

2. This photo shows a chimp giving a kiss. So sweet! This chimp was also giving themselves a kiss through the camera ;). There is truly no one like this chimp. A completely  spunky individual!
