Op-ed in Seattle Times

February 5, 2010 by Diana

CSNW’s Executive Director, Sarah Baeckler, along with colleague and friend of the Cle Elum Seven, Debra Durham, just had an op-ed published in the Seattle Times. Please read the guest column, about the Great Ape Protection Act, here. Nice job, Sarah and Debra!

Foxie- the next “Lord of the Dance”

January 24, 2010 by Jackie

Today, I popped in a video of “Lord of the Dance”, donated by one of our many wonderful supporters and volunteers, Stephanie Perciful. We put it on our wishlist in hopes that Negra would enjoy it, because she sometimes enjoys watching her caregivers’ dance. So far Negra hasn’t shown much interest in it and is usually too far away to see it. Foxie on the other hand, seems to thoroughly enjoy it and looks like she kind of wants to join in! Someone recently commented that Foxie may be musically inclined- I think I agree. Thanks, Stephanie! I’d say Foxie seems pretty enriched!

Note- I orginally said that the video was donated by Tamela, but it was actually Stephanie who donated it! So sorry Stephanie and Tamela for the confusion! Guess I am indeed human. 🙂

Blog Award Nomination

January 16, 2010 by Diana

I just found out we were nominated for Pawcurious’ 2010 Brodies for excellence in pet blogging. We were nominated for the best animal blog (non-cat/dog). Thanks for the nomination! Now the judges are going to select a smaller group of finalists. There are some really great blogs on the list! Check them out on the Pawcurious site.

Everyone’s excited about Burrito’s birthday

January 6, 2010 by Diana

MailChimp changed their login page to wish Burrito a Happy Birthday! Check it out here.

We have cool new benefits for Chimpanzee Pal sponsors, so if you’d like to sponsor Burrito, like MailChimp does, learn more: https://chimpsnw.org/you_can_help/donate/#ChimpPal

We’ll post all about Burrito’s festivities soon. We decided to make his day all about food (of course!), and his friend Robbi brought some presents too.

All About Burrito

December 31, 2009 by Diana

Here’s a video all about Burrito in celebration of his 27th birthday which is on January 6th. Please share with others!

Thank you to everyone who has supported Burrito by being his Chimpanzee Pal and overall friend.

Happy 2010 everyone!

I’m trying out Vimeo (video below). The video is also on You Tube.

Sponsor a Day of sanctuary and here’s to 2010!

December 30, 2009 by Diana

Sarah came up with a great idea to allow people to sponsor a day of sanctuary. It’s just $100 and you can pick any day! More info and a calendar here. I’ve already signed up in remembrance of my mom’s birthday on Sept. 12th and Tom Chimpanzee‘s celebrated birthday on May 1st.

The Sponsor a Day program was announced in the e-newsletter sent out this morning, but I thought I’d share my excitement about the program and way of honoring others here on the blog too.

In other news, J.B. is working on the greenhouse in this strange sun-and-snow weather right now, and we’re planning for Burrito’s birthday on January 6th. Once everyone is back from their respective short vacations, we’ll sit down and prioritize some fundraising ideas for all of you eager blog supporters. Thanks so much again for raising the funds for the chimp proof window! J.B. has been talking with the steel contractors and trying to figure out a time line for installation, which will probably be weather-dependent. Oh, and I’ve begun to work with Kristi of Vintage Vine and Margie and Nicole to plan the late winter/early spring wine tasting in the upper county – Sippin for the Seven was so much fun last year that we’d love to make it an annual event.

Never a dull moment!

Thank you all for making 2009 full of fun and new experiences for both the chimpanzee and the human people at CSNW.  I can’t wait to see what 2010 brings!
