If you are signed up for our E-newsletter, you know we talked about some of Annie’s antics in the latest edition. You may have wondered about some of them, namely her “bird noises”, and I don’t blame you– it sounds weird! But it happens, and here’s proof, along with some of her other silly antics.

Chewing
Human culture has a lot of hang-ups. While they have their place, we have all of these “rules”, like keep your elbows off the dinner table, and always close your mouth while chewing. Don’t get me wrong here- chimp culture has rules too, but to me, there is something so satisfying about watching the chimps so openly smack their lips while they chew their food. Especially Foxie, who is by far the coolest chewer I know.
Negra and her night bag
Jackie was able to get some close-up footage of Negra enjoying her night bag the other night. It really is her favorite time of the day.
Keep Away
Jamie, the artiste
Generally speaking, for what ever reason, the chimps here don’t seem too interested in drawing or painting. However, every once in a while, Jamie will draw with a pen or crayon. So, I was pleasantly surprised today when I found the following mask (that was all white yesterday) in the Playroom during cleaning. I can only assume it was Jamie’s masterpiece because I saw her drawing with a brown crayon yesterday, and she is the most likely of the group to draw. I would say when she puts her mind to it (or feels like it), Jamie is quite the artiste.

Happy Halloween!
From new boots to pomegranates; from pears, apples, and green onions, to grapes, oranges, and pineapple coconut juice; from pinatas to new troll dolls; yesterday may have been the most exciting party at CSNW to date. The food squeaks lasted for at least 30 minutes! It was quite a day!
In addition to the video, I thought I would post a couple of my personal favorite pictures from the party– but FYI, they aren’t the ones saved for $33 donations in honor of Jamie’s day! Hope you all had a Happy Halloween!
Today in honor of Pam Lehnert
Happy day, Pam! Chimpanzee Sanctuary Northwest celebrates you today, thanks to your friend Jill. The humans and chimpanzees appreciate everything you do for them every day!
Blog readers and event-goers should remember Pam for her ability to transform a space into something spectacular – she’s done it for our auction 2 years in a row now. In addition to her beyond-creative event set-up, she helped with procurement, organizing all of the donor files, writing and editing parts of the catalog, and just about every aspect of the auction. That $100,000 would not have been a reality without her help. So, thank you, Pam and a big, big Happy Birthday to you.
I know Pam admires Jody’s ability to relax, so here’s a photo of Jody in one of her “yoga poses:”
