Negra’s playfulness with her caregivers was not just a one time deal. It seems she is really coming out of her shell and is starting to loosen up a bit. I can’t even begin to tell you all how happy this makes all of us. To see Negra laugh and play with her caregivers brings us sheer joy!
chimpanzee rescue
Today in honor of Kaite McGrew
Thank you, Kaite McGrew for sponsoring today and helping the Cle Elum Seven continue to lives filled with variety, enriching experiences, play and love! Every single donation to the sanctuary helps us to fulfill our mission, and we couldn’t do it without supporters (and Facebook fans!) like you.
Anyone can sponsor a day of sanctuary! Visit the Sponsor-a-Day section of our donation info page.
Foxie’s new baby
Supporter and friend Tamela recently sent the chimps an incredible (and huge!) care package with all sorts of goodies. Foxie’s favorite gift was the doll featured in the video below. It’s always a little bittersweet to see Foxie exhibit such natural mothering behavior given her impoverished history, but it’s so rewarding to be able to provide her with another chance.
2nd goal reached!
Thanks, Barb in Ohio for making the pledge to cover the remaining $873 we had to go to reach our second fundraising goal! As of this morning (thanks, in part, to a generous check from Kat Morrell and to Tamela’s continued success with her Etsy store), we’re up to $40,476 raised! So close to our ultimate goal and three cages windows replaced with glass!!
banana update – $36,627 raised
With Karen and Don Young’s generous match for each new goal we reach towards our 2nd Anniversary Fundraising, we have just $873 to go to reach $40,000 and 2 caged windows replaced by bullet proof glass and $3,373 to go to reach our ultimate goal and replace three caged-windows windows.
Thanks so much to everyone who has donated and raised funds so far!
Only 27 days to reach the ultimate goal!
accidental enrichment
Today was “fill the tub with water” day. We thought it would be fun to throw some of the forage in the tub. Apparently we do not know much about the buoyancy of fruit, because we figured grape tomatoes would float. They sank right to the bottom, and this turned into “accidental” enrichment for Missy and Jamie.
P.S. Thank you to Tamela for the sturdy tubs!
Playful bunch of chimps!
Foxie and Jamie have had some pretty epic play sessions lately, but they’re not the only ones in good moods…
