The Troll Soap Opera

August 14, 2008 by J.B.

We recently sent out a request for more troll dolls, and we were fortunate to receive quite a few from our volunteers and regular blog readers. Last night, we decided to offer a couple of them to Foxie to see if she’d be interested. Interested would be an understatement – she was thrilled! Here are some photos of Foxie with one of her new dolls, which we have dubbed “Princess” (don’t tell anyone that I have been naming dolls, please). Thanks, Cindy, for sending them. These are both “action” shots because Foxie likes to stare at her trolls and shake them…

And for those of you who are willing to admit that you suddenly feel sympathy for the inanimate doll known as “Trixie” (Foxie’s first adopted troll), I am happy to provide an update. Ever since Foxie took an interest in Trixie, Jamie has been threatening to take Trixie away. Now, I don’t want to sound judgemental, but Jamie can be a bit manipulative and she enjoys getting a rise out of her chimp friends sometimes. So we figured that she was just having fun at Foxie’s expense. But as soon as Foxie put Trixie down, Trixie was adopted once again… perhaps I was wrong about Jamie?

There’s more than one way to crack a coconut

August 10, 2008 by J.B.

Missy was showing off her skills again today, first playing with her coconut, then tossing up in the air to crack it. Jamie hit hers against the door track instead and drank the juice. Annie, Foxie and Negra, having yet to pick up these techniques, hope that Missy and Jamie are feeling generous.

Outdoor Area Platform

August 10, 2008 by J.B.

Keith and Jim got a good start on the outdoor area platform today. The logs, lumber,  and composite decking were all donated by our wonderful supporters. Tomorrow, a second level will be added – we can’t wait to see the chimps up there!

The Lookout

July 21, 2008 by J.B.

There is a window in the loft of the chimp house that looks out over the driveway. The chimps – Negra, in particular – like this spot because they can see the humans coming and going. When Sarah and I went into the playroom to clean this morning, we were not surprised to find a nest by this window. But with this nest there were just two toys from the dozens of new toys given out at yesterday’s party: a periscope and a pair of binoculars.
