I was going wax poetic about chimpanzee toes, but I think the video does it for me.

Mora B: Playing Hooky
This week Mave, Honey B and Dora decided they would prefer not to shift with the rest of their group for cleaning and instead played hooky in the front rooms. where it was just the three of them. This is the not the first time you’ve heard about Honey B enticing her friends to skip out on shifting and hang out with her for a private play session and as you’ll see in today’s video, none of the girls had any regrets!
Foxie, Meet Ariel!
Yesterday we received a very exciting package in the mail. A kind and thoughtful supporter picked out a brand new doll just for Foxie! Everyone, meet Ariel. Foxie has many dolls in her collection, but she has not had this one before. This doll is also the perfect size for passing back and forth through the caging, just perfect for Foxie and her team of babysitters (aka caregivers). She and her new doll have had a wonderful day!
A quick selfie of caregiver Ellen with Foxie’s new doll during babysitting duty.
Foxie received her new doll during breakfast, right after she polished off her morning smoothie, and her new doll has accompanied her throughout the rest of the day. She took a nap with her in the greenhouse, gave her to volunteer Dusty to help Dusty scrub the floors in their playroom, and played a quick game of chase with Burrito, keeping Ariel in hand. She passed her off to me briefly when her and Burrito’s game of chase turned into some tickling which required both hands to be free to get Bubba with!

Enjoy today’s video of Foxie and her new doll, Ariel. Thank you so much to our supporter who sent this thoughtful gift just for Foxie!
Pine cones and Politics
This morning Negra was peacefully enjoying her peanut butter pine cone…
When there arose such a clatter…

Still best to keep eyes on that wild roommate…
Happy Birthday, Lori!
Happiest of birthday wishes from all of us here to Lori Pearsall, who also graciously sponsored today for the chimpanzees as a way to celebrate and share her own special day!Â
“I had the thrill of visiting the chimps and now I’d like them to celebrate my birthday with me.”
Have a beautiful day, Lori! We so appreciate your support of these amazing chimpanzees!

Happy Summer Solstice!
For many years now, Dylan Most has so wonderfully been sponsoring this day each year to help the chimpanzees and bovines welcome the summer solstice! It’s hard to imagine a time when the chimpanzees were completely unaware of the passing of seasons, perhaps even the existence of an outdoor world. This is a beautiful honoring of the chimpanzees being able to enjoy not only the seasons of each passing year, but the seasons of their lives, which thanks to gifts like this, are endlessly rich and full. Both of things to look forward to and things yet to discover. Thank you so much, Dylan!
Happy summer, all! (Or winter, as the case may be). 😉
We celebrate Missy’s honorary birthday in August and while we don’t know her actual birth date, she definitely embodies the love of summer. Especially summertime tomatoes!

New Boot Groomin’
During one of our donor visits, Jamie spotted a pair of cowboy boots she adored! The thing about wearing boots Jamie likes is that you might be walking out in your socks! Our very kind donor was gracious enough to part with her boots so Jamie could add them to her collection. To say Jamie was excited would be an understatement. When Jamie received her new boots, she wanted Diana to take a spin in them before we gave them to her officially. Obviously, if they did a walk around the Hill, they also needed to be groomed. At the end of the night, Jamie had her dinner on a barrel with her nighttime enrichment (peanut butter pine cones) and her new boots! She was a very happy lady 🙂
