Happy Jamieween, everybody! The time has finally come for us to celebrate our boss, Jamie Chimpanzee! Today, Jamie turns 46 years young! We celebrated today with some of her favorite things: pomegranates, leeks, bell peppers, pear cider, and new boots and books!
We also included two new items! Inside the cups of pear cider were ice skulls with “brains”(raspberries)!
The second item was “Chow for Brains”! A gracious donor purchased silicone brain molds from our Amazon Wish List to help us make brains out chow dust, banana, pomegranate juice, and apple sauce! With so much commotion and excitement from today, I completely forgot to take photos of them. You can catch a small glimpse of Terry eating one here:
For us caregivers, this Jamieween was bittersweet. It is the first Jamieween we celebrated without our celebrated Great Pumpkin Thief: Jody. But with Dia De Los Muertos beginning tomorrow, we decided to honor our beloved Jody by decorating her burial site and to offer her some of her favorite forage foods, this included big leafy greens! You can watch the video to see the set up and who stopped by to visit. Interestingly enough, everybody left that pumpkin where it was. This is probably just a huge coincidence, but I am choosing to believe they left it there for her.

Thanks for the Jamieween festivities video, Chad. We had a fun time watching the behind the scenes Jamieween at noon, so it was even more fun getting to see the outdoor forage, too! We were missing Jojo when suddenly there was that beautiful early Dia De Los Muertos offering of all the treats and a pumpkin just for the Great Pumpkin Thief herself. ???? I’m shocked that everyone just let Jody’s pumpkin be! You are so thoughtful and caring for including our dearly missed, especially today, Jody in the decor scheme. She would be so excited!

Today is a bittersweet birthday for Jamie. I love seeing Our birthday Boss and Burrito brachiating from the rafters, and the looks of Mora and Terry enjoying their treats. The food squeaks from Bubba was music to my ears. I think that Terry made off with the pumpkin from the Bray.
Still, I miss seeing the look which our dear Jody would have when she found her pumpkin. Her lower lip would droop and top of her ears would bend back in that way that would indicate her joy. A dinosaur moan was soon to follow. I never stop loving her or remembering her.
For what it’s worth, this weekend I filled out a card with the name of “Jody Farmer” and her life dates. Starting tomorrow, All Saints Day, and all through November, her name will lay on the high altar at the Cathedral of St. Paul. If anyone needs further details, I’ll just have to show them my pictures of Jody that I carry with me always in my wallet. “She was, she is, my beloved friend”, I’ll say.

In memory of the greatest pumpkin thief ever, I give a moment of silence. I miss Jody, but never more than today. However, I am smiling knowing that she made off with the pumpkin prize yet again this year. Her six friends couldn’t have paid her a finer respect than choosing to leave the pumpkin with Jody. I am moved.
Congrats to Terry, the pumpkin thief of the Bray! He looked so pleased. And for the birthday girl, she gets the title first pomegranate thief. Seeing Jamie struggling while trying to hump all those pomegranates inside, even trying to do so bipedally, was very funny. She too looked beside herself with joy as she slurped and chewed away.
I couldn’t be there live to see the behind the scenes today but I’m looking forward to watching!! Thank you to everyone who made this day so spookalicious!
You echo my thoughts exactly Kathleen. I still miss dear Jody so much and was dreading this day, but her ‘special treats’, Missy visiting and Annie sitting with her to have her food was lovely. The rest of the crew as always brought some smiles back, Jamie enjoying her birthday enormously and I think Terry might be following in Jody’s footsteps…..creeping along carefully in case anyone spotted him and stole his prize!

I know Jody is deeply missed and I can’t help but think that everyone understands there’s something special about her resting place. it was nice of them to leave the Pumpkin Queen one all to herself.
