Well folks, the computer in the chimp house has been a beast possessed all the day long. You know, that pinwheel of death just spinning and spinning despite all our best efforts. So I’ve relocated to another computer and alas, the internet is a bit wonky. Sometimes, that’s life in the country. So I apologize for the short post, but maybe it’s an opportunity for me to be like Annie, call it a day, put my legs in the air and just make bird noises in complete contentment.
For those of you that aren’t familiar, when Annie is most content, she plops down on her back, puts her feet up and makes whistling sounds through her hands, or as we call it, the Annie-bird. She only does this when she is completely at ease and happy so it’s the most welcome sound to hear drifting through the chimp house. We rarely capture these on video, but I found a post from some years ago that gives you an idea of the Annie birdsong.
We could all use a little Annie song in our lives.

Annie is such a sweet love…It just couldn’t get much more endearing than THIS…What a most interesting behavior for a chimp…I LOVE the sweet sounds…

Katelyn, thank you so much for thinking to send this video! Annie making bird noises is one of the most charming things I’ve seen in a long time, but most things to do with the chimps affect me that way! Jamie and her drawing and boot fixation, those who walk around with troll dolls (Foxie and Jody?), Negra and her sunflower, I could go on and on! But this ranks at the upper end of charming, that’s for sure! Maybe it’s also a form of singing or humming to herself, a kind of soothing sound. Whatever it means to her, I’m happy that you shared it with us! Now I have to listen again…

She is amazing!
I just got home from work, so I’m going to try and be like sweet Annie, I can also do birdsongs, but mine are tweets and whistles, nothing like Annie’s!
Sending lots of love to all of you,
Sincerely,
Caroline

Yes we sure could use a little Annie song in our lives. Thanks for sending it my way! Love that Annie creates her own personal little song when she’s happy. Like whistling. Annie is such a beautiful chimp, and a dear friend. We can learn a lot from this musical girl. Hope when you go home tonight you find the time to put your legs in the air and make bird noises in complete contentment. You earned it. Have a lovely night all!

Beautiful! If I didn’t know any better, I would think that Annie-bird was one of the seagulls swooping about Duluth harbor.

J’adore votre sanctuaire, et votre investissement quotidien afin de nous retranscrire un peu de leurs vies quotidiennes

Being very hard of hearing and unable to hear these sweet songs, I still think it is such an adorable thing and I am sure all those who could hear it, loved it. They all have their own charming traits; it’s hard to pick which one you love the most. Just for the record, JAMIE and Buritto are at the top of the leaderboard.

That’s just LOVELY! Thanks for the smile.
