Foxie and Jody had a great grooming session today. Foxie was particularly interested in a scratch on Jody’s back that she got during a fight with Jamie. One of the trolls got in on the action too.

OMG these photo’s are so sweet!!! And just look at all that beautiful black, shiny hair! 🙂 And the sun shining on them ~ very soon, they’ll really be able to see and feel the sun!

How lovely. The highlight of our day are the daily photos/videos and descriptions of the seven. Thank you.
We have done some more research on the washer/dryer. It seems that to get a good large volume and industrial set each item would be about $1300, so with tax the total would be closer to $3000. We already have a good start thanks to everyone. I (Margaret) was at my art class today and since I am currently painting Jodi everyone there was interested in the chimpanzees. I told them about the washer/dryer project and several people said they will contribute. I hope they will give me checks for it next week. I thought I would also send out an email to everyone I know and see what comes in that way. This blog is so inspiring that when people see it their hearts open. Anyway, that is the latest. Thanks everyone for the great community building.
Pam says
Sounds like you guys found better information than I did (see latest posting under Jamie’s Paintings) regarding the actual industrial sets… the only info on larger appliances I found were coin operated.
If for some reason the industrial ones you found don’t work out – let me know and I will follow up with the woman I spoke to today.
Margaret and Karen says
Look at Pam’s comment tonight under Jamie’s Painting. She has done some great research on the w/d. (Maybe we need a blog site spot for w/d issues…..Diana, JB and/or Sarah, could you put a photo of the current w/d up on the blog so that we can communicate about the project in the one place? Thanks.
Margaret and Karen says
Pam….send me an email to [email protected] so we can talk about this directly. 🙂 I think the staff should have the final say on what is strong enough for them.

Foxie seems like the caretaker, like me, everyone tells me I am the caretaker and the giver, it seems everytime I see her picture she is hugging something or one of her friends. They had a fight and I know they are chimps and that is what they do but it still makes me sad. Did Jamie and Jodi make up? I am gled you are all doing all of the background work on the w/d because tomorrow is Friday and by that day I am so pooped my commute seems like I am driving to China and back!
To the seven XOXOXOXOXO
Is there a reason why there are no pictures of Burrito, Negra, Annie and Foxie? Just wondering do they all get along in the play area or do you have to keep them seperated more then keep them together??? I think about them all the time and just have so many questions, but I know you are all so busy with taking care of the 7 and your own lives I do not want to over do it!!! LIke I said earlier if their was a nany cam I would probably pay 5$ a minute and go broke watching them…hehe…really!!!!!!
Shelly Campbell says
Bu the way Shelly K. I cl;icked on the site and it would not open, it said page expired!!!! I went to the other Gorilla site you sent me and read all the blogs from the beginning, very interesting and very sad at the same time. Why can’t people just let them live their lives, we all just want to live our lives and they are no different!!!! I will check that blog on the weekends but this one every chance I get!!!!
Have a great FRIDAY everyone!!!! TGIF!!!!

Hi Shelly C ~ the link was to a site for a company in CA that is engineering tissue cells and skin grafts to be used as an alternative to animal testing. Alternatives to animal testing is one of my biggest areas of interest and I know, like you, there are others on the blog who are interested as well 🙂 Wanted to share some positive news!
Shelly Campbell says
Now taht is great news….I know they have other alternatives to testing and many of these chimps in the US are just sitting in their jail cells waiting for someone to come up with something that needs their poor bodies to test…I say to H&(^ with that and let them go, there is no need to test on chimps at all! Did you hear about Moe the missing chimp down in the San Bernadino Forest, I am so worried about him he has been missing from his sanctuary since June 26th and they have not a clue where he is. He was raised by a human couple to use the toilet and wear clothes, sit at the table and eat with a knife and fork, then when something went terribly wrong he was went to this sanctuary and he escaped. I just cannot imagine what he is gping thru, I know he is scared, also knowing he is out in the forest in the trees where he should have been all of these years, but he does not know that life, at all, and I am affraid someone will hurt him. They are bringing in specialist to try and find him tomorrow. Everyone say a quick prayer for Moe that they can bring him back to the sanctuary safely, he is so sweet and very loved!!!! Thanks Shelly C.

Man all my typos I think I better go to bed!!!!
Shelly Knapp says
Shelly C ~ definitely will say prayers for Moe, please keep us posted. Don’t worry about the typo’s, we all get “happy fingers” and blogs don’t require perfect editing 😉 We’re just glad you’re blogging! Rest well, see you on the blog again soon.

What if Save the Chimps earned a penny every time you searched the Internet? Or how about if a percentage of every purchase you made online went to support our cause? Well, now it can!
GoodSearch.com is a new Yahoo-powered search engine that donates half its advertising revenue, about a penny per search, to the charities its users designate. Use it just as you would any search engine, get quality search results from Yahoo, and watch the donations add up!
GoodShop.com is a new online shopping mall which donates up to 37 percent of each purchase to your favorite cause! Hundreds of great stores including Amazon, Target, Gap, Best Buy, ebay, Macy’s and Barnes & Noble have teamed up with GoodShop and every time you place an order, you’ll be supporting your favorite cause.
Just go to http://www.goodsearch.com and enter Save the Chimps as the charity you want to support. And, be sure to spread the word!
Shelly Knapp says
Another blogger mentioned this site (goodsearch) as well – the Chimpanzee Sanctuary Northwest is already registered, so you if you select the CSNW, the earnings go to the Cle Elum Seven. Save the Chimps is also a wonderful organization 🙂
Jeani Goodrich says
Thanks for all the information, guys. Moe is in my prayers and do keep us posted.
I was wondering if the fight Jamie and Jodie had was over a troll? I hope not! The pics of Foxie and Jody are wonderful and very heartwarming. I was also wondering about the others, Shelly C. And thanks to both Shellys for the Goodsearch and Goodshop information. Time to send out massive emails to everyone to pass the word along. Also, I’m going to check with my local stores to see if jars can go at the cash registers for donations for the washer and dryer. I know other organizations do it so why not CSNW? I’ll keep you posted.
Happy weeekend!
Margaret and Karen says
GREAT idea, Jeani!
Shelly Knapp says
That is a great idea Jeani ~ Change for Chimps!
Jeani Goodrich says
Oh I like your title…Change for Chimps it is!
dee says
boy are these very lovely pictures
I sure hope that the fights that they have with eachother at times aren’t too bad
I mean I can only imagine how maybe the care staff’s experience & their perspectives are as these kinds of things are happening …
the seriousness of it as your heart sinks, your blood pressure may elevate as they are fussing & fighting w/each other … wondering how far it will go, wondering how bad it could get & hoping that whatever it is – that it will end soon ..
I know they are fully aware of their surroundings, so the reality of the confines must be brutal for them at times .. they probably take their frustrations out on each other .. they are in a truly great loving safe place now, but I am still so sorry for everything that has happened to them
more choices, new sensations –countdown to the outdoor area:
4 days … yeeeaahhh!!
great info Shelly K
my fingers & toes are crossed that Moe will be OK
