Scotland symposium on the use of great apes in invasive research

August 3, 2008 by Diana

Tomorrow (Monday) is the first day of the International Primatological Society Conference in Edinburgh, Scotland. There is a very important symposium occurring at this conference on August 8th (Foxie’s birthday) – a discussion of the use of chimpanzees in invasive biomedical research. Learn more on the Humane Society of the United States’ website.

Also, the Project R&R site is filled with information about the use of chimpanzees in biomedical research and the work being done to end this practice. It’s shocking what we have put chimpanzees through, including those now (thankfully) living at Chimpanzee Sanctuary Northwest.

Foxie and Trixie

August 3, 2008 by Sarah

As many of you know, Foxie adopted Trixie the troll doll a few weeks ago (July 13th to be exact). She still carries Trixie around with her almost everywhere she goes. As far as we know she’s only dropped her a handful of times, and she’s always gotten her back within a few minutes. Trixie’s getting a bit dirty and we could use your help – who has another troll doll? (clarification 8/4/08: We’re not looking to replace Trixie, just to add to the family!)

Foxie’s got a very special occasion coming up – she turns 32 on August 8th (although we’ll be celebrating it on the 11th). So if you happen to have a troll doll hidden away in your closet, send it to her for her birthday! You can mail it to us at PO Box 952, Cle Elum, WA 98922.
