The other day, volunteers from the Boy Scout Troop 336 from Federal Way finished up a fun bouncy bridge (I can speak from experience because Jackie and I just had to, for safety reasons of course, test it out. There is no video of that, however). The video we have is a combination of footage we took from the chimp house and also the chimps’ view from the GoPro camera. Thanks so much to the Boy Scouts for putting this together! I can’t wait to see wild games of chase on the bouncy bridge.

Jordan and Lucy love Foxie
Jordan and Lucy Bower sponsored today for Foxie’s 36th birthday. Jordan and her daughter Lucy are big fans of Miss Foxie, and they show their love frequently and generously. They sponsor Foxie through our Chimpanzee Pal program, and they even sent Foxie some new Dora the Explorer dolls. (Foxie was very grateful.) Thanks so much to Jordan and Lucy for being such great chimp friends! We’ll be sure to throw Foxie a truly magnificent birthday bash today.
Brave Burrito, Cute Foxie, Smart Jamie
The video in this post shows the smartness of Jamie and the cuteness of Burrito and Foxie. Burrito, by the way, was a brave explorer again today on Young’s Hill. We came in early to let the chimps out on the hill while it was still pretty cool outside. Burrito went exploring for quite a while – on his own and with Jamie. It’s interesting to see Jamie and Burrito together, because they are definitely not the closest of friends.
OK, first a photo of Burrito.
And now the video, which was taken later, after we cleaned the playroom and set out the enrichment for the day:
Burrito and his popper toy
All the chimps have been in great moods today! (Check out the status update I posted this morning on our Facebook timeline).
Burrito spent probably an hour non-stop playing with this popper toy. He kept pushing it—with his hands and even on his head! He sat on it, carried it around with him, and seemed to be really enjoying himself. It was pretty hard to focus on getting the front rooms clean when we had to pause every couple minutes to laugh and be goofy with him.
Roslyn Troll and Doggie Olympics
The weather was great. The competition was fierce. The times were good.
Supporter Monica B. found the BEST EVER mascot for the Roslyn Olympics. Meet Stanley the Troll Dog:
Check out some more of the photos from the Roslyn Olympics that J.B. took:
Who’s coming next year? We’re going to try to get the park on the 2nd week in July on a Saturday. Big thanks to ARRF Animal Rescue and the sponsors of the 2012 games!
For Jay Johnson
Caryle Johnson has sponsored today in memory of Jay Johnson on his 60th. What a lovely memorial. Thanks, Caryle!
Pinterest Challenge Update
I’ve mailed out quite a few misprinted t-shirts this last week to eager crafters across the country. I can’t wait to see the projects that everyone comes up with!
We still have plenty of t-shirts left, so check out the challenge on the blog and on Pinterest. Share it with others, and email me ([email protected]) to get your shirts.
I’m planning on making the deadline for getting projects back to us September 10th – Annie’s birthday. How does that sound?
