Burrito

Today is in honor of Carolyn!

October 4, 2017 by Katelyn

Today’s day of sanctuary was sponsored by “The parents of Jake, aka wheelbarrow boy,” for Carolyn Ouellette: “A Real Animal Lover, A Great Role Model & A Stellar Friend!”

To the parents of Jake, thank you so much for thinking of the chimps in honoring Carolyn and making a difference in the days of them all!

Carolyn, I can’t imagine this won’t bring a smile to your face this morning. We hope you enjoy your day and thank you for being such a bright light in the world and sharing that with the chimpanzees.

Let the Festivities Begin!

October 1, 2017 by Kelsi

Today was a perfect fall day at the sanctuary. It was chilly, but still warm enough, the leaves have started to change, and the air smells crisp outside. Fall is a favorite for us here at CSNW, especially because Jamie-ween is just around the corner. So let the count down begin! Today, to celebrate the first day of October the chimps enjoyed a pumpkin seed and dried apple forage with some nice warm tea. Later for dinner there was a special homemade treat, applesauce (or better known as mashed up apples). Our day was spent walking around Young’s Hill, grooming, napping, and savoring the last bit of the garden.

Late September

September 29, 2017 by Anna

There’s nothing quite like a Fall forage on Young’s Hill!

Annie:

After eating his forage bounty, Burrito quietly went back out on Young’s Hill to watch the girls finish up.

Foxie:

Jamie scanning the grass for more food.

Jody was serious about carrots and kale!

Missy kept herself busy!

Negra actually stayed out for quite some time in the cool Fall breeze. Only after we felt a couple raindrops, did she hustle back inside.

Creative style

September 22, 2017 by Anna

Burrito demonstrates the many uses of knee-high rainbow tube socks. The chimps receive a selection of enrichment each day and sometimes they make a few non-traditional style choices.

In memory of Ron and Betty Kreuscher

September 21, 2017 by Katelyn

This day of sanctuary was sponsored by Ronalyn Huenergard and she shared this message about today:

“This donation is in memory of my parents, Ron and Betty Kreuscher on their wedding anniversary. They were very proud of their 3 children, 8 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.”

Ronalyn, thank you so much for adding to the chimpanzees’ lives in memory of your parents. All of us here send you and your family good thoughts and hope this day is filled with comfort, joy and love as you celebrate Ron and Betty and the memories you hold dear. We so appreciate you holding the chimps in your heart.

Good friends, Burrito and Jody:

What’s on the Menu Today?

September 18, 2017 by Kelsi

Mondays are never a drag here at CSNW! We had a pretty exciting menu today.

Breakfast: Started with a fruit smoothie (volunteers’/staff’s choice), two fruit options (pears & cantaloupe today), chow, and some vitamins

Lunch: We served some fresh kale, orange peppers (because why not), tomatoes, a little bit of corn, and chow

Now get ready for the main course because this is going to get interesting!

Dinner: We had a forage tonight and the chimps had roasted onions, carrots, and sweet potatoes (among a few other veggies as well)

The chimps enjoy fresh and cooked vegetables, but this forage combination really got their attention!
