Today is Burrito’s big day! Burrito is a charming guy and has a lot of admirers – in fact, he’s so loved that three separate people have sponsored today in honor of his 29th birthday. On Burrito’s behalf, we want to offer a BIG thank you to Adrienne Armstrong, Marcia Douthwaite, and Ginna Keulen for their generosity. This is going to be one heck of a party!
Burrito is happiest when he’s eating (and he’ll be doing a lot of that today):
Burrito is an all-around great guy. If he had it his way, he would always have large handfuls of food.
Burrito turns 29 tomorrow. If you adore this guy as much as we do, it’s not too late to sponsor his day, become his Pal, or just donate whatever you can to keep his hands full on his special day.
Today is sponsored by Margaret Parkinson and Karen Creason in honor of Margaret’s beloved brother David John Parkinson, who died on December 11th in Margaret and David’s native New Zealand. Margaret and Karen are some of the warmest people you could ever hope to meet. They’re chimp house volunteers and long-time supporters whose love for the chimpanzees is obvious to anyone who meets them (and it’s reciprocated – the chimps adore them!). They had this to say about David and why they chose to sponsor a day in his name:

It’s been a very merry Christmas here at CSNW. The chimpanzees started the day with a special Christmas breakfast of peanut butter rice balls, bananas, and smoothie. After the playroom was cleaned, the real party began – complete with whole pomegranates and tangerines, new toys and blankets from friends Robbi and Dick Brown, Leslie Sodaro, and Joanne Pierce, and a Christmas tree decorated with popcorn and peanut strings and troll dolls.
Aside from the pomegranates, the tree might have been the star of the day. Diana had the idea to suspend it a couple of feet off the ground, so it spun festively whenever someone touched it. Burrito, in particular, seemed quite taken with it, as you’ll see below.
Vern and Jean Bengston have sponsored today in honor of Julie and Rob Sweet. The chimpanzees are currently enjoying breakfast and excitedly waiting for us to finish cleaning the playroom so today’s party can begin! We’re so grateful to everyone who donates so we can continue to provide the chimps with everything they deserve.

Emily and Marcia have each sponsored today as a Thanksgiving gift to the Cle Elum Seven. Their generosity has helped enable us to plan the big bash about to get underway. (I’ll give you all a sneak peek: it’s going to involve Field Roast, cranberries, chunky homemade applesauce, pecans, warm rolls, and sugar-free pumpkin pie for dessert.) We are so thankful for Marcia, Emily, and all of you who love these chimpanzees as much as we do. Happy Thanksgiving!
