Christmas 2023

December 25, 2023 by J.B.

Our thanks, as always, to the dedicated volunteers who give up their own Christmas mornings to provide one for the chimps and to the staff that gladly work for an organization that never takes a holiday.

And Merry Christmas to all of our wonderful supporters! May you sleep soundly tonight atop your own mountain of gifts 🙂

Aw, you made a quilt for Jo, too! Thanks for so much time with the OG 6; for some reason, I enjoy the joyful vibe more on that side of the house!
Chad, the brusselstoes were very creative!

I’ll reiterate my thanks of the other day for giving up your mornings with family-heck, maybe even your whole holiday, if they’re not close by!
And I don’t know if it was JB or Chad who had “the pleasure” of a cool Christmas rainy run with Bubba, but an extra thanks to you! That must have been a raw day, and Jamie isn’t sharing her soft blanket!
Thank you all for this annual gift that is a peep into their world, and their joy!

Let joy be unconfined! If there awards given for sheer dedication, creativity and making sure the chimps had a bumper party time, your sanctuary would scoop the lot. A sheer delight and with their full tummies and play romps no wonder the chimps needed a snooze! Thankyou everyone for sharing these magical moments. Happy holidays and travel safely.

Brussel-toe – genius! It doesn’t look like it was a very white Christmas out there.

“Let Heaven and Nature sing…”, and food bark in excitement! Missy and Annie were just a delight to watch. Best of all, Burrito refrained from eating Neggie’s head but, instead, enjoyed field roast, pomegranates, sweet potatoes, and decidedly more herbivorous fare. And, finally, Jamie made a nest with her Lucy book. A lovely day of those we love.

Ha! I loved the “jingle bell bob” You played the music in perfect harmony with their head bobbing.

Took me a bit to figure out who was building that nest. She didn’t want to show her full face. But I finally figured it out when she put her backside up. LOL:see_no_evil:

I loved all the personalized blankets. especially Jody’s, melt my heart. you are so kind and thoughtful

It looks like it was such an amazing day for the chimps. And I know their show of excited joy made all your hard work worth it. It certainly brought me joy. I admire you all so much. Thank you isn’t enough.

(Just a thought but you know they don’t know which day is Christmas. Next year you could have their Christmas party on a different day so you have more time with your own families
on the day. And each group could even celebrate on a different day.)

Merry merry Christmas one and all!

We should bring it up next year. Thanksgiving too.

It’s true that the chimps don’t know which day it is but we still need to have staff and volunteers on hand 365 days a year for cleaning, feeding, laundry, etc. so we might as well make it a party!

l loved seeing the blanket with Jody’s name too. I’m not sure if the chimps were acting sillier today or if it was just my perception of them but I laughed all the way through the video, they looked so darn cute.

For the last two days for whatever reason when i watched a CSNW video on prep for today, I started singing the sing from long ago, ” Do They Know It’s Chrustmas Afterall.” Well I don’t know what they would call it if they could call it anything, but they obviously knew that today was something really, really special. Thank you Sanctuary elves for the festive feast of food, fun and frivolity. You did an outstanding job. The joy and apprecistion of your dedication is enough to last all year.

I agree that the gang, both sides, seemed extra excited today. They know it’s Christmas! Or maybe they know it’s Field Roast with Hawaiian Rolls Day! Seeing ALL of you working so hard and ALL the chimps so ridiculously happy made me cry with pure joy. The clothes line with custom named blankets for the Cle Elum Seven was such a great touch. Missy and Annie! Burrito and Neggie! Jamie!! She looked soooo happy and satisfied settled in her mound of goodies. Crying just thinking about it. Joyful tears.

Cy’s group sure caught on to all this celebration stuff. They looked like well seasoned party pros. Loved the rootball trees wrapped in plaid! I’m assuming if they do not get eaten by spring you will plant them in each groups yards? Chad, seriously, the brusselstoe was so clever! You are amazing when it comes to party planning. I appreciate all of it! Every last bit.

I will sleep well tonight knowing there’s a place called Chimpanzee Sanctuary Northwest. What a magical place. Happy Christmas to everyone.

The customized blankets were sent by a thoughtful donor and yes, the trees will be planted on Young’s Hill and the Bray (if we can keep them alive long enough!).

        December 26, 2023 at 7:22 am

Thanks J.B., even if just the root balls survive with a sprig remaining, those trees will survive once planted on the Hill and Bray. As I said, CSNW is a magical place.

Sending a big “Thank You” to the donor of the custom blankets.

    What a wonderful Christmas celebration!
It’s so wonderful to see everyone playing and goofing around. I had to laugh at Burrito playing with Neggie. I don’t think I’ve seen the “forehead chomp” move before. Of course, in Cy’s group, Terry went right for the Hawaiian rolls. His love affair with them might even rival Neggie’s!
And lastly, Jamie surrounded by all of the boxes like a kid on Christmas morning. Even The Boss is not immune to the Christmas spirit, it seems, as evidenced by her play session with the stuffed animal. Of course, she’s already got her bonobo book tucked into her pelvic pocket, where it belongs. What a perfect scene!

OMG, this video made me so happy. Almost as happy as the chimps getting all those wonderful Christmas treats and gifts! I loved the kissy lips. The chimps are blessed to have such caring humans looking to their welfare and we are blessed to be able to share their joy! Thank you to all who make this happen!
