Boots, boots, boots

July 7, 2022 by Sofia Castro-Loza 9 Comments

It is no secret that the chimps, specially Jamie, like us to wear Xtratuf boots while we work. Thanks to one of our amazing donors, I was able to upgrade my old boots and everyone, including me, were very excited about them. Jamie inspected every single inch of the boots with a chopstick and later on with a grooming tool. Lucky, Dora, and Mave all made an effort to follow me until they got to touch the new boots. Then as I walked by Terry, he requested I come closer by spitting water directly at my boots. Cy was very eager to play chase with me after checking them out as well.

Wow, Cy really makes you run the long laps!

They don’t miss a thing, do they?
Cue more fabulous stories from caregivers old and new, like Katelyn’s story about the chimp at Fauna complimenting her on her new blouse with the flowers! I love these stories!

That was set to some super fun music!

Cy’s big jump back to play chase was super adorable, but I had to rewind a bit because at first I thought he was alarmed at something. (like his jump back at seeing a cows eye on the page). But alas he just wanted to put those boots to the test with a good long chase!

I would’ve been very winded after all that chasing! Oh but wouldn’t I hand over heart just give anything to chase him! You are so lucky!!
(OK so I know you’re not just lucky. It took years and years of education and training for the privilege of playing chase. Well deserved!!)

several months back, I sent a pair off of the wish list because Chad had just flat worn his out….the only size they had in stock was size 11, so I closed the deal and they were shipped….several pairs of cotton socks will fill the void for oversized boots…..they are good quality–I have a pair for myself…………..

So sweet! You will have to set up boot viewing hours or you’ll be at it all day. I love Dora’s two-handed move.

Why, of course Terry had to spit some Oxygen dihydride onto your boots…just to make sure that they are really waterproof, of course. Thank you for making the Boss of Boots’s day.

Sofia! Your soundtrack to the video is Xtra-perfection! Way too funny.

I think it’s so funny and interesting that everyone was so excited about your new boots. Jamie is always so delicate when she grooms with her chopstick. I melted when she actually placed her fingers on your shiny boot. And then I melted every time each one did the same. And only Cy put your boots to the test by playing chase?!

Thank you! Seeing everyone so pleased by your new boots (maybe even more than you) made my day too!

I was watching an old video recently of Jamie delving into a big sack full of boots, books and scarves. Add her walks and racing the Gator……Jamie heaven! She deserves it, as do all of them with their favourite things, Burrito and his buddy Chad, Missy and her tomatoes, Foxie caring for her dolls etc etc. You all go the extra mile for them. Thank you.
