Today is a day to celebrate mothers for all they do! Caregiver Katelyn said it best when she told me “There are 101 ways to be a mother”. So however you relate to this holiday, if you find yourself in such a role – cheers to you.
Mother’s Day is also the perfect time to celebrate the mother’s of the sanctuary, which includes: Negra, Missy, Jody, Foxie, Annie, Honey, and Betsy. Negra, Missy, Jody, Foxie, and Annie were not allowed the opportunity to raise their children, but all their living children are happy and safe in sanctuaries. They make our lives better every day, and we are so lucky to know them.
It’s also a very special day today, as we celebrate Jody’s honorary birthday! She is turning 47 today and spent the day doing some of her favorite things- foraging on the hill, eating watermelon bowls, and spending time with her group. There is no better day to celebrate Jody than Mother’s Day, as she fulfills the motherly role in her group- always making sure everyone is taken care of and safe. We love you, Jo, happy birthday!

I still don’t identify any of them well. But how cool was that when somebody, seeing the carer on the other side of the separation, offered a big smile and energetic waving. Loved it!
That was Foxie, aka Tiny, and she was asking for reassurance, probably still upset about the theft of her bowl

It looked like it was a beautiful day on Young’s Hill for the birthday celebration of the beautiful Jody. I trust that her savoring of her birthday melons was sufficient to invoke the sound of a happy dinosaur. How sweet of her to share her watermelon with Foxie…then again, Jody seems to take great joy in her duties as her troop’s den mother.
Happy Mother’s, Auntie’s, Grandmother’s day to all. And a big beautiful happy birthday to Jody! What an extra special forage celebration! The watermelon bowls are gorgeous. (Do we have Chad’s Catering to thanks for these?) And it was great to see farmer Jo with armfuls of bowls.
Had to laugh at Negra sitting on the path and Burrito going around her to get to the greenhouse. Do not disrupt the Queen on Mother’s Day! Burrito knows the rules.
But the very best part was the generosity of our birthday girl. Jody would have made THE best mom. It’s nice she can now mother her entire family.

Wow Chad! Those watermelon bowls are gorgeous! I’m thinking of making some myself. Including some edible flowers, they make it so colorful and beautiful. They’ll make a pretty breakfast table presentation right? with a nice quiche. mmmm
I’m so glad the ladies had a beautiful sunny day and enjoyed the Mother’s Day/Jodi’s Birthday forage. That’s what we’re all about! Makes me soooo happy!

Happy birthday dear Jody. It looks like a happy day for all the Chimps. Those watermelon bowls are beautiful! Jody was so sweet to share her bowl with Foxie.
