Shut Up and Blog

August 4, 2021 by Kelsi

Today was pretty busy day for the humans, but the chimps made sure to fit in some fun. Of course, Burrito played with everyone! Jamie had a lovely day napping in a extravagant nest full of book pages and boots. I loved watching her sort through her big bag of enrichment too.  Honey B and Mave had a blast unrolling around in the raffle tickets! Cy flipped through magazines. I wasn’t able to capture much from Lucky’s group, but they were busy inspecting one of the security camera JB just set-up.

Today’s blog was going to be my favorite type of blog, a smorgasbord of photos! But, throughout the day I was able to get some fun video clips of some of the chimps. So why not do it all! It made me start thinking. What are all of our blog followers’ favorite kinds of blogs? Do you like blogs that are interactive like games or educational? Do you like blogs with lots of content or are you like, enough already I want to see the photos. Maybe you’re more into the videos where you can see the chimps and get more familiar with the building. Personally, I love photos with descriptions! Whatever you are into, I will stop talking so you can enjoy these photos!

I like it all, Kelsi! Games, photos, info, videos!
    The mummies are still popular…

I love the one of Honey B with her tickets, even if they’re in my least-favorite upside-down pose. What kind of enrichment comes in that huge bag? No concern for them getting inside and unable to get out, or fear of losing breath?

I love the photos of Honey B and her tickets. I’m always interested in how carefully they remove
items from bags, taking care to see what each is before going on to the next item.

Oh, Kelsi, what a great Blog!! Watching Jamie looking through her BIG bag of enrichment items reminded me of Christmas mornings and watching the younger kids opening their presents and when finished they would say ‘that’s all’ ??
Also the video of Burrito and Annie wrestling was hilarious

Speaking of mummies. I was thinking of someone visiting the blog for the first time and watching Jamie pull out that book on mummies. It’s hysterical, like what?!? It dawned on me that there might be a wee connection with Jamie’s love of scarves and her interest/curiosity in mummies! Don’t be surprised if you arrive one morning and you find Jamie has wrapped herself up like Queen Nefertiti.

I love videos of life at CSNW, even if just a clip. Allows me see and hear my friends in action. Videos are a treat. But since they take extra time, nothing beats a photo or two. And your photos today are excellent. Look at that expression on Honey B’s (usually dead pan) face! Beautiful. Those raffle tickets are a hit. Love those images!

I second Kathleen’s opinion: both the still photography and the
videos are a treat to watch.

A lovely selection, Kelsi….I’m just grateful for anything! I just made up a photobook of my favourites but how can you possibly limit yourself when EVERY photo is priceless? Jamie is concentrating hard on her enrichment and you know if the word ‘play’ comes up that Burrito will be in there somewhere. Have you heard laughter from the Lucky Six yet? Are any of them goofballs like our dear Burrito?

The choice presented in the question is impossible to decide, since I find both the still
photography and the videos enlightening. May I also add that, on Fridays and Saturdays, JB and Diana usually contribute text which provides more details on the behavior of chimpanzees and their past and present well-being; I find these blogposts elucidating if, occasionally, sobering.

I am grateful for any medium. textual or graphical, which provides a window into the world of 20 individuals whom I adore and find endlessly fascinating.

      And I second Tobin’s opinion! Full heartedly.

I was amazed to see Jamie lick her finger before turning a page in her book ! Beautiful photos and video as ever. Thankyou.

I noticed that too Jan, although it might just be that there was something on her finger she needed to taste……..

Really enjoy your blog and getting to know all the residents! Your posts are always thoughtful, informative, enjoyable and a great way to start my day. Love watching the chimps look at their books and the great play they have with each other, but have a real soft spot for Foxie and her dolls??
