New chimps also means a new routine. We are definitely trying to work out some kinks. Shifting can be hard when chimps don’t want to leave a room. Sometimes it means the humans clean until later in the day or if the chimps decide not to leave we can’t clean. Eventually, Dora’s group and Mave’s group will get into a new routine of shifting, but that probably won’t be this week ;). Today was no different, but we did get to clean Playroom 3, which feels like a win. So you might hear us say it was a busy day or today was crazy. What it really means is us humans are a little tired, but we got most of their areas clean. Also, have we mentioned how great our sixteen chimps are! I still can’t believe there are sixteen chimpanzees that get to call this place home! I couldn’t get photos of everyone today, but I was fortunate to get a few and have some kind caregivers share some of their photos with me.

While cleaning Playroom 3 we found a grooming train! The Green House has so much vertical space, it really is amazing. In this photo you can see Gordo grooming Lucky and Lucky grooming Terry. Dora has a nice little nest on the other platform and if you look below, Rayne foraging for cherry tomatoes.

I can not get over how handsome Willy B is. No wonder Dora gets excited to see him.
I am so very grateful that you have been able provide a forever home for another awesome 6 chimps! I LOVE knowing that all the chimps at CSNW are able to dictate how much of their day is spent, that you listen to them and adjust your schedules around what they want. ?

I never tire of looking at photographs and videos of the beautiful, fascinating chimpanzees and
cattle who have a home and sanctuary at the CSNW. How heartening to learn that yet another tomato enthusiast is in residence!
Each and every one of them is fantastic. Just love seeing them in their element, enjoying life. It’s heartwarming to see the Lucky Six feeling so comfortable and enjoying their new home. How lucky they all are to have such loving and dedicated humans!

Oh Kelsi, wonderful photos once again. Mave! She looks so fluffy and content perched on her log above the grass. I am sure your schedule and your tasks will be topsy-turvy for quite a while until both groups settle into in their new lifestyle. Burrito is pleased with this fact….more time for games of chase with him! More time for perimeter walks with Jamie! More time for dancing for Negra! More time to watch the three explore their new spaces. More time to get to know six new friends!
Great photos as always Kelsi, Two questions spring to mind as I look at them and read the blog. Is the snakeproof fence back all around now that construction is finished? And will all the ‘newer’ residents be going through the training that you did with the Seven? It must make some things a lot easier for you if they all comply….at leadt in their iwn way!!

Great to see the newbies happy and content ( I have to go bij photo’s alone; and don’t know what happens during the day…) and it feels they truely are at home at this wonderful sanctuary.
For those “Busy days” or “Crazy weeks” remember the Lucky 6 and all the residents of CSNW would be in terribly worse circumstances without the dedication of all the staff. You gave them their lives back as chimps. I guess being tired and worn out is a small way you can pay them back. I adopt senior/high-medical-needs golden retrievers. I know the feeling off giving them a few more happy, safe years they otherwise wouldn’t see. The chimps know what you’ve given them. They’re no dummies!
