Jody wadging a cattail

July 17, 2021 by Diana

This video (above) reminded me of someone eating a corn dog at a ball game, though I don’t really go to ball games and I have no idea if they still have corn dogs.

In any case, Jody definitely was enjoying her cattail wadge while keeping an eye on the neighbors today.

For more on wadging, check out this blog post from Anna from a few years ago or this one, also from Anna, with some photos of Jody wadging pineapple skin.

Today is the first day of sending out the blog to both the old and the new lists of subscribers. If you are new to the blog, welcome!!

If you signed up to the new list the other day, you should be receiving notice of this blog post from both WordPress and Salsa. Check your spam folders just in case!

Note: if you have previously unsubscribed from our e-newsletter or other communications, you may not receive the email. Get in contact with me if you have any questions or issues: [email protected]

I’ll be troubleshooting this week, so you might not receive blog posts through Salsa (the new way) everyday, but my goal is to have it all worked out by the end of the week.

If you haven’t yet signed up to the new subscription, you should be able to do that on either the right side or below this page (scroll down).

Happy Saturday, everyone!

Awww…..day 400 of wishing sweet Jo could have her play date with the big man! 🙂

      Who’s the “big man”?

In this case they are referring to Willy B

Sigh…so do I. It seems to be a question of logistics, alas. I’m not sure how a play date ‘tween Willy and Jody could be arranged. There is a reason, however doleful, why Jody and Willy live in separate troops. I so hope, if this is the intention, that Willy’s contingent and Dora’s contingent can successfully integrate.

I think she’s okay admiring him from afar 🙂

I was thinking it was an excellent form of enrichment for Jody! Like watching TV, or in this case live theater. Spying on Willy B seemed equal to enjoying her cattail washing. 🙂

Ugh to auto correct! “Washing” was supposed to be “wadging”

I know, Diana. But I could still hope for her (and the other “cougars” 🙂 )

    Hi, Miss D,

So, will we be asked to subscribe to each *new* blog posting separately? Or does this sign-in we just did cover all postings from here forward? Also, is there *any* way to gain a bit of control over what we post now? For instance, on the previous post, I accidentally posted the same comment twice but had no way of deleting it, and accidentally posted a reply to its own thread when it didn’t post under hers. Now we can’t clear up our mistakes and do editing. Do you know if there’s any way to turn on those features for us?

And I’m assuming this is just a different place for you to host your blog, and not different blog software, yes?

I am very srry for all the querstions. But I appreciate it!

P.S. I absolutely LOVE it that when referencing the other groups of chimps with respect to one, you refer to them as “the neighbours”! It cracks me up every time I read it. Very clever, you. 🙂

    Cheers.

No, you won’t need to subscribe to each blog post! This is actually not changing anything at all with the blog, it’s just a different way for people to sign up to receive notices of new blog posts, one that will enable us to have a lot more ability to control and troubleshoot the list.

So, sorry your dreams of greater control over comments won’t be realized right now with this change since it’s not changing the blog itself in any way – same host, same software for the blog.

        Thanks for that explanation.

My two cents on editing our posts – yeah if it’s possible I’d like that too, to correct or clarify my posts. And pretty please please please can we use emojis? We can convey meaning or tone with emojis. (Like right here I would be putting praying hands LOL)

What the heck?? I had NO idea cattails could get that big! I mean, I thought they were only like 3-4 inches long and maybe 1/2” wide. Yeah, that one does look like a corndog! (emoji of bulging eyes here). Wink wink

Funny, oftentimes when a chimpanzee takes the wadge out of their mouth, it’s the shape of the roof of their mouth. Pretty funny. I saw that several times in the Chimpanzee movie.

Have a great weekend Diana! And thank you for everything.

Sorry this change won’t change anything having to do with comments or the blog itself. I can look into the editing and emoji desires, but I won’t promise anything.

I guess we have healthy cattails here.

I hope you have a great weekend too, Paulette!

    Hi Diana,
I signed up for the new blog emails, because I understood that thàt was the only way to get acces to the blog.
But I Do Not Need An Email Every Day to let me know there is a post on the blog….
First thing I do every morning ( you middle of the night ) is go to the blog and get amused and happy and moved by the blog. No need for en email to remind me…….

Marianne – it looks like you figured out how to remove yourself from the Blog subscriptions. This is one of the benefits of the new system! Let me know if you have any more questions, Marianne!

Minutes from my house is preserve with cattails on both sides of the road. I’m talking cattails for as far as you can see! Every time I pass by I think of the chimps and wish I could ship boxfuls out to you.

While you have shown pictures through the years of the seven enjoying cattails, I believe this is the first time I’ve seen a video of someone in action eating a cattail. My curiosity has been rewarded. I’ve wondered what they do with the ‘fuzzy corn dog top’ as it seems like an odd thing, or an odd texture, to eat. Now I know, thank you! And our cattails on the east coast are equally as big. 😉

Sweet dear Jody. A challenge to get all the good juices out of her snack with the distraction of Mr. Handsome in the courtyard. How’s a poor gal supposed to concentrate with Willy B in her sights?!

Thank you Diana for all the work you are doing to switch up the blog. And I was thinking the same as Kathleen… what a distraction to be in view of the handsome Willy B AND wadging a cattail. I love watching Jody’s eyes and when intent she stops wadging to observe him 100%. What an eyeful for a multitasking girl. 🙂

For anyone who might still be reading comments here – I hear you on wanting a better comment system, so I’m looking into options! If there are other sites that have comment features you love, please let me know. Thank you!
