In my blog last week I had the pleasure to announce that we are hiring 2 more staff members to join our team this spring! In case you missed it, here is a link to the Full-Time Chimpanzee Caregiver position description. Along with the caregiver position, we are also looking for someone that can take on a unique role at the sanctuary. We are looking for a Vet Tech that also wants to be a chimpanzee caregiver!
In addition to the the extensive job duties of “caregiver,” the current staff at the sanctuary each take on different roles within our organization. Our individualized roles are determined based on prior experience and current sanctuary needs (long time blog followers might notice that some staff roles have changed over the years). Veterinary technician skills are something we are looking for to enhance our team and assist our amazing veterinarian Dr. Zamzow, particularly in emergency medical procedures.
Help us spread the word about this exciting new opportunity!
If only I were 50 years younger, had the good sense I have now and the right education. I would fight tooth and nail for that caregiver job. I hope you find just the right people for the openings and I’m looking forward to getting to know the new chimps and loving them as much as the current 10.
Nancy, they are not going to hire a three year old…..
Those are very important jobs….Good luck with the selections…
Missing that degree and experience!
Some person is going to be very very lucky!
Can’t wait!
Best of luck filling position #2. What a privilege to be on staff and care for the chimps well being. (With that said, I hope you never need a single emergency medical procedure again. Never. No more!)
I’m a CVT in Portland and used to work as a caregiver at Farm Sanctuary and as a tech in an ER/ICU. I so wish I lived closer. It’s really wonderful seeing a sanctuary hire for this particular medical education and skill set – it’s what I missed most when working as a caregiver. What an amazing opportunity!
