Today we celebrate Annie and all that makes her special! We often seem to celebrate Annie’s September big day with a forage of sunflowers. After a quick search, I found this information about the sunflower, “to receive or give sunflowers as a token of love is to symbolize adoration, longevity, loyalty, joy, and happiness.”
Adoration, longevity, loyalty, joy and happiness. Can you think of anything in the world than that to better describe the beautiful Annie?

Burrito update: He seems to be almost back to his old self! We do need to continue to monitor him in isolation for the next week or so to make sure no complications arise from his rattlesnake bite. All things considered, it’s been lovely to see him playing and eating treats like normal.

Once again, my girl Jody seems to have won the forage even without scoring one of the Jumbo sunflowers like Jamie and sweet birthday girl, Annie. Looks like a good time was had by all. Happy, happy birthday Annie.

Happy birthday my girl Annie:)! The chimps have been my compass ever since I met them back with Dr. Mel and Dawn. With the fires and evacuations in Cali I’ve been a little stressed, sitting in my car pack with odds and ends and most importantly with all my pets heading to a friend’s house I remind myself of those fabulous souls and what they endured. They give me strength everyday.
Best of luck Jo. As an ex-Californian I will keep you and your pets in my thoughts.

Thanks for these great photos and updates. It’s lovely to see them enjoying such huge sunflower heads and their other treats, including the great pic of Burrito and his grapes. I’m so thankful he’s improving so well and seeming more like his usual feisty self. Much gratitude to all the caregivers who take such magnificent care of the 10!

What an absolutely adorable top photograph of today’s birthday girl! I wish Annie another happy new year of life, even if she has to take time out once in a while to make some well-needed alarm calls regarding unwanted pests on her property.
