Bidding for HOOT! 2020 opened this morning! If your breath stops for a minute and then your eyes water a little watching the video above, I get it – the same thing happened to me.
Jane Goodall has always been a voice for HOPE even when sharing the desperate reality of what chimpanzees face in captivity and as a species in the wild.
Hope for the future, with a plan to help, is what the chimpanzees and the whole world needs right now, so I hope you will join Dr. Goodall in her support of HOOT! as we work to help more chimpanzees and care for the ten already at Chimpanzee Sanctuary Northwest.
Bidding ends during the virtual event on September 12th. Auction items are still being added over the next few days, so visit frequently. You can still enter the pant-hoot contest and register for the virtual happy hour too!
Big thanks to Dr. Jane Goodall and the Jane Goodall Institute for making and sending us that video.

WOW!!! Talking about a heavy-hitter, or in this case, a heavy-hooter! What a perfect HOOT from a world class lady who continues to work for well-being of primates everywhere. It can’t get much better than to have her support for all you guys do at CSNW. Congrats!
Maureen says
Oh, how special! I suspect none of us are unaffected by her video and support.
Kathleen says
Yes Diana, my eyes most certainly did water a little watching the video. I can’t think of anything better than Dr. Jane Goodall championing CSNW mission and expansion. You must play this video for the chimps on your big screen (Willy B will love it!).
Right when I was working up the nerve to enter my hoot I see this. Anytime Jane Goodall Hoots and declares “Me Jane”, my heart turns to liquid. Such a simple action but so beautiful and moving in its message. Hope, yes and so much more. Sigh. I need to go back to the drawing board.
Diana says
We promise not to judge anyone’s pant-hoots against Dr. Jane’s!
Kathleen says
Thanks Diana, good to know! : )
I should be able to muster up a pant hoot, after all I’ve been trained by ten experts thanks to this blog — hummm, I should make that 11 experts now that we have J.B.’s hoot on the record!
Linda C says
what a thrill, Diana!
I kind of suspected/hoped this was coming!
But who can compete with that!?
(That almost looks like a photo of Neggie behind her…)
Jeri says
Amazing! And well deserved!!!!! ?

WOW! How special and what a great pant-hoot! CSN is truly special!
Diana says
Thanks, Mary! I got your gorgeous cards listed on the site this morning. I really love all of them, but the set with the cows I think is my favorite. https://hoot2020.afrogs.org/#/browse/onlineItems/all/16958/

I got a little choked up and teared up too. That was a special pant and hoot;) but I’m have to say the chimps do that to me too! Oh and Jamie your pant and hoot – a 10!
Sandie Allaway says
I got goosies the minute I saw her face!!!!!! So exciting to have Jane Goodall as a champion of what CSNW stands for and for the fundraiser!!!! Hope it’s “hootfully” successful for you. xoxoxo
Marya says
Yes, yes, for certain: instant tears. I only have to see Jane’s face and I tear up! I watched the video again just now and even more tears — of gratitude for her life’s work, of being “in” her presence and of course for her hoot. She and her work have always touched me deeply and I’m so grateful to have found CSNW and the wonderful staff and of course, the beings who are provided for now and those to come in the future. You brighten my days in ways I can’t even articulate. Now I have to go practice my hooting!
Betsy says
I certainly can’t pant-hoot as well as Dr. Jane, she was taught by the experts. But I can bid on auction items! Really beautiful items!
Susana Pataro says
So happy to hear Jane giving her support! I know how much she loves the work done by you and the chimps at the sanctuary. Wishing you all the best in the campaign!. love
CeeCee says
Wow, how special, I wanted to be Jane Goodall when I was a little Girl (well I still do actually) I hope this will bring in the big “Jane” Bucks for Hoot 2020 !!
Claudine Erlandson says
The best place ever for the Chimps and for more to come in the near future. A place where they are loved…
Vickie Resor says
Wow! This is incredible! I’m so honored to be able to be a part of this fundraiser supporting the the Chimpanzee Sanctuary Northwest and really proud of my friend Robin for her never-ending passion for this cause. Wow! Jane Goodall!
Marcie says
Wow is correct. Who knew the chimps and bovine have such “Friends in high places.” Maybe she’ll visit someday and wouldn’t it be wonderful for her to chat with the chimps.
Jordan Bower says
Wow. I am awestruck. You humans deserve that Hoot! for all of your hard work and love.
Judy says
I must admit that all I have to do is see Dr. Jane’s face, hear her voice – or hoots, or even just think about her life and what she has done for the world and of course the Global Chimpanzee Family and I shed tears and catch my breath. What a touching video and tingles from head to toe that she sent this richly deserved video reaching out to CSNW and saying hello to the 7, the 3, the staff and by extension all of us. I’m blown away and will watch it multiple times. Best wishes for the HOOT!
Harley Robb says
Good luck during the event, everyone!
Jennifere says
What a wonderful message. I saw Jane Goodall in Melbourne, Australia many years ago and l still hold her presence in great awe. And of course my eyes water too when l heard her hoot for chimpanzees. CSNW, good luck this year with fundraising for the ever growing special primate family infrastructure.
My plans of travelling to USA this month like many people worldwide, were cancelled.
I hope that one day I’ll get to visit CSNW to say hello.
Jen.
