Golden Rays of Sunshine

August 4, 2020 by Chad de Bree

This morning’s sun gave off the most incredible golden rays. When the chimpanzees were given access to Young’s Hill, it was no wonder why all of them rushed right out the door.

As Jamie went on her morning patrol of the day, Annie remained behind to watch the others explore the hill.

And who did Annie see? Why Queen Negra enjoying the sun with a doll of course!

And there is nothing better than a passerby game of tag with Burrito!

Foxie and her Orange Blossom doll also ventured outside.

But she eventually went inside to enjoy the cooler indoors.

Willy B also spent most his day lounging around on his favorite leopard print blanket. (Seriously, he loves this blanket! Thank you to one of our volunteers who donated it!)

As I write this and try to get a few more photos for today, I’m starting to realize staying indoors lounging around is the cool thing to do. Literally, the cooler thing to do.

Though the bigger news is that Jody was able to return to her group today! We are still monitoring her foot before she gets access to the outdoors area, but we are hoping that happens soon.

Negra and Annie basking in the suns rays, that’s sanctuary. Sweet photo of Mr. B passing by Neggie (but what is with Negra’s headless doll?! Tee hee hee). SO happy to hear Jody is back amongst her crew! Tell her I said to take it easy and don’t overdo, we don’t want anything to set her back from being able to get back outside so she can forage and harvest to her hearts content.

Beautiful photo of Queen Negra-so sweet! I haven’t seen her with a doll.
And I hope Jody is back to 100 percent soon- I miss her wildly expressive face!

For a moment there. Chad, I thought you’d recycled an old Neggie photo….and then I saw the (headless) doll! Always good to see the Queen enjoying the sun!

Also good to see Jo not only well enough to rejoin the fam, but spunky enough to enjoy a game of “got your toes!” with Tiny.(who has a birthday coming up VERY soon!)

Man, Oange Blossom got exactly one day off, lol!
    Thanks, Chad!

Always great to see relaxed, happy campers at the Sanctuary.
Just curious. Are there any among the seven who do not enjoy a doll’s companionship at one point or another? I haven’t noticed Annie, Missy or Jody with one. Although I read the blog daily, I have not been on “doll watch.” How do the B’s and Mave feel about the dolls? I vaguely remember one of the 3 having a doll but may be way off there. Who knew little Foxie was the Sanctuary’s influencer? Could the bovines be the only furry CSNW residents who don’t enjoy having a doll around?

      ikr?, Laura!
Seems like everyone is getting in on the doll game. I love it, Foxie as “influencer”!
Could never imagine Jamie with one, unless she’s teasing Foxie, of course.
Recently, JB posted a video of Jo making her nest at night, and in there, he said that she ofte takes a doll to bed with her…that was news to me, too.

I don’t know if the Sanctuary receives my messages, but I thank you for keeping us apprised of Jody. I think of her constantly, and I so hope that her recovery will be uneventful. If her lower lip is hanging loose, as in the photograph above with her friend, Foxie, I take that as a hopeful sign.
