Portraits of Jamie

August 5, 2020 by Kelsi

I was scrolling through my phone and found a collection of portrait photos of Jamie. Jamie is a person to know. I think anyone who has met Jamie will agree with me that there is no one like her. She is simply the best.

Jamie hanging out in the Greenhouse.

Jamie grooming her favorite XTRATUF boots.

Jamie pulling up a barrel to watch Anna and I clean and get a drink from the hose, of course.

Jamie laying in one of her intricate nests. What is not seen in this photo is her current favorite read, staff wearing XTRATUF boots.

Hi Kelsi! I agree with you. Jamie is indubitably the best. There is no one like her.
(Love all the photos but I especially love the image Jamie hanging out in the greenhouse.)

Jaimie is a beautiful dear! Her face lights up, and the concentration in her eyes; she’s just amazing!
I would love to meet her. Sending you all love and hugs from here in Edmonton, stay safe.

I love Jamie, and I love the staff of CSNW that went to all the trouble of making Jamie her very own book of boot pic’s that they knew she would love.
I think that shows just how special not only Jamie is ….But all of you too !

    Hi, Kelsi!
Imagine what it’s like for someone to glance over *your* shoulder as you scroll through your phone while waiting in line at the supermarket or the cafe….back in the non-socially distanced times, of course!

They’re all fabulous (the concentration!), but I also think the black and white photo from the greenhouse is my fav. Nice to see Da Boss with a smile on her face.

New game idea! (Infinite possibilities)…..”The Most Likely to…..”
You guys give us 4 or 5 “The most likely to “s, and we have to guess which chimp it is.
They could be easy (the most likely to sleep in late/skip breakfast, the most likely to ask you to walk with them), to medium (the most likely to spit water on you (Annie? Foxie?), to hard ones (stuff you’ve never told us).
    Thanks again for the pics!

That top pic (B&W) is really beautiful. I think Jamie is truly remarkable and the smartest of the group. She never ceases to amaze me as she flips through books (you’d think she is capable of reading captions), to alert staff of a fire 12 miles away, to ripping out a picture of a snake in a book (that was one way to get rid of that pesty snake) to how she communicates what she wants with staff, to —well there are so many amazing things she has done and does it would take an hour to list. I was partial to Foxy in the beginning because I found out about CSNW reading an on-line article about HER, but these past few years Jamie amazes me on a daily basis.

I adore Jamie, too, and have a pic of her on my desk as I type this — also ones of Missy and Jody (but don’t tell Jamie). I’m struck by her depth of intelligence and and curiosity — she has a very old soul, that’s for sure. And with that comes her strong will and challenges for the staff sometimes, I’m sure (like when she doesn’t get her way as Boss?). I nearly fell over when I watched the video of her drawing with a pen on paper and being quite involved in her creative process, and when she was using the work bench. Kelsi, thank you for your scrolling and the idea to share these with us.

I just have to share this experience: I was at a medical appointment recently and they were running late. When the nurse walked in I was scrolling on my phone looking at pics of the chimps and the she was quite taken by them. This led to a little discussion about Jane Goodall, CSNW and more sharing of pics! I hope she checks out CSNW since I went on & on about the chimps, the sanctuary and all the good that happens there.

These are fabulous! I think she’s one of the best-looking among 10 good-looking chimps. Who else could manage close-ups so well? I agree with the others that the b/w is incredible. And thank you for these! I’ll have to figure out a way to print them (non-techie that I am).
