Boxing Day

December 26, 2019 by Anna

Some of the chimps (particularly Honey B) spent the day after Christmas investigating their new presents:

Mave on the other hand, was more interested in the leftover Christmas packaging:

She also found an old standby. These rainbow toe socks seem to never get old!

As for me, this will be my last blog for a little while as I head into my maternity leave. Fingers crossed our baby girl comes soon (due date is tomorrow!). Many thanks go to all my extremely supportive coworkers for covering for me and Chad for joining the team this winter! I’ve been jealously watching Negra nap in the most luxurious fleece blanket nest today and am secretly longing for a bit of time off in my own nest. Talk to you all next year!

I am curious if the chimps had any interest in your condition? Congratulations on your baby girl! Hoping for a speedy birth and and healthy Mom and baby!??

For the most part they don’t seem too interested, but I did let Jamie gently groom my belly with a long tube the other day 🙂

Good luck, Anna, and enjoy your “nesting time” too. I am a retired OB nurse and Lamaze instructor…. and like the rainbow toe socks, hearing of new babies & mothers-in-waiting never gets old for me either. May your labor & delivery be exactly as planned & expected… and your new little one the most beautiful & peace-filled baby ever born.

Ahhhh yes! The photo of the Pink Cadillac I have been waiting to see! What a smart gal Honey B is, looking under the chassis before you drive it.

Oh Anna, a baby girl. Sigh. Everyday will be filled with lots of loving memories, enjoy every minute of this wonderful and rewarding experience. I am so happy for you! Something tells me your experience with The Seven has prepared you to be the best mom ever. Much love & all the very best during this time.

Oh, Anna! I wish we had a video of Jamie grooming your belly! 😀

You will be missed at the Sanctuary and here at the blog; but missing you will be offset by imagining the joy that awaits you in one tiny pink person. I will look forward to reading (from one of the other caregivers) that all is well with you.

Just in case your baby needs an incentive to show up … A great read: LEGEND OF THE PREGO PIZZA In the spring of 1981, a woman desperate to give birth after a trying pregnancy, wandered into Skipolini’s Pizza in downtown Clayton, CA. Jokingly, the woman demanded that the manager give her a pizza that would make her have the baby soon. Seeing her desperation, the manager concocted a pizza with just about every known topping in the restaurant.

The masterpiece had thirteen different toppings including extra onions and extra garlic. The pizza was loaded with fresh vegetables and six types of meat. The creation weighed over four pounds and could have cured the hunger of several small countries. The results were amazing. The woman left the restaurant after eating the “Prego” pizza and went into labor that same evening. So began the amazing history of the first ever, the original, “Prego” pizza.

After years of success, the “Prego” pizza has been growing in popularity. It has been recommended by doctors and OBGYN’s everywhere. The pizza gives hope to pregnant mothers who are just ready to put a happy ending to a long nine months. The “Prego” pizza has been recognized by newspaper, magazine, radio, and television programming alike. In the early years, radio personality Dr. Don Rose first helped publicize the pizza on the radio station KFRC. The successes of the “Prego” pizza have been documented in the Contra Costa Times, Pizza Today magazine, Diablo Magazine, Gourmet Magazine, and many other local publications. The popularity of the “Prego” has also been enhanced by short clips aired on KTVU channel 2, Evening Magazine, CNN, and KPIX, channel 5 news.

Anna, if Jamie the wise-woman groomed the exterior of your swollen belly, your new arrival is sure to turn out just as intelligent, curious, and wonderful as the Boss. All the best to you and your child.
