This morning I found Mave in a very silly mood. She was playing chase in the front rooms, rolling around on the ground, giving me her toes to tickle. But, the best part was looking at Mave’s feet and seeing her wearing not just any sock, a rainbow toe sock! When I told her I liked her stylish sock, she pulled it up higher on her foot.

Nice to see a silly side to Mave; she has so much responsibility on her shoulders! 🙂
Can’t believe this, but I might miss the video that I hope will appear on Thanksgiving (don’t know what their WiFi will be like). To all my fellow readers, the volunteers, the staff, Diana, JB, and of course, the chimps-a very happy Thanksgiving to you all!

Kelsi, thank you for sharing the article. I enjoy reading the reactions of other humans when they first encounter the sanctuary and the chimpanzees. It reminds me of the emotions which I first had on learning about the then-seven who lived at CSNW: joy at their presence, sorrow at their past mistreatment, and awe at their perseverance and beauty. Also, Mave and her toe-sock are too cute for words.

When I saw the headline about socks I thought for sure this post would be about Missy. Now I know Ms. Mave shares a love of socks too! She is so adorable.
Thanks for the link to the 425 Magazine article. It was wonderful and included tid-bits that were new to me. The mention of Negra at the end made me smile, a well stated description of Neggie in the sun on the hill. Did the author have to surrender her Docs to Jamie and leave in stocking feet? : )

She’s very beautiful.

How adorable can you get? I am always amazed that they actually seem to know what you just said like when you admired her sock, she pulled it up higher. Honey B showing her missing toe to anyone and everyone for sympathy. I loved in a previous video a year or so ago how Burrito motioned for you to TURN THE PAGE when being shown a book from outside the cage. Thanks for the link to be able to read that wonderful article in the newspaper. I wanted to print it out but it just shows up as a bank page. Anyone just seeing the Chimpanzee Sanctuary NW for the first time should read the article as it tells everything about the current chimps and the plans for the future to save more laboratory chimps. Pictures of the sock lady are adorable, Kelsi.
