Happy Valentine’s Day! Chimp lover and mama extraordinaire Adrienne sponsored today in honor of Joey, Jakob and Billie Joe with this sweet note: “I love the Cle Elum 7 and want to honor my own family along with them on Valentine’s Day.” Jody is our resident mama here at Chimpanzee Sanctuary Northwest, having given birth to nine babies in her time in research. Here she is below with a chimp favorite fitting for today – pomegranate!

Cheers to Jenna
Jenna Miles also sponsored today for the chimps! What a lot of love for the Cle Elum Seven! Thanks so much, Jenna, from Foxie and the gang.
For Bruce
Volunteer Deborah sponsored today in honor of her husband, CSNW Board Vice President Bruce Wagman. Bruce works tirelessly for all animals – the Cle Elum Seven of course, but also horses, dogs, cats, farm animals, and countless others, not to mention the “Wagmanagerie” of cats and dogs who live at the beach with Bruce and Deborah. Deborah loves you for all your hard work, Bruce, as do the rest of us here at the sanctuary! Have a happy Valentine’s Day Eve!
A new chapter
Last summer I let the Board and staff know that I intended to step down from my role as Executive Director at the sanctuary once we had the right person in place. I’m thrilled to share that my shoes have officially been filled! Of course it’s bittersweet for me to think about leaving the sanctuary, but I know it will be such a wonderful new chapter for this organization to have Jennifer on board. Please be sure to take a look at the announcement and join me in welcoming Jennifer to the Cle Elum Seven’s family. She’ll officially join us in March, but we couldn’t wait to spread the word!
Thanks Julie!
Julie Hua sponsored today for the chimps. Julie was at the sanctuary doing some research last year, and I think the chimps stole her heart! Here’s a nice pic of our man Burrito for ya, Julie.
Pomegranates + show some love!
I can’t believe it’s already almost half-way through February! That means Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, and we have a super spiffy card you can send to your special someone. Just make a donation in honor of your Valentine before noon tomorrow and they’ll get a nice “It’s Good to Be Loved” card. (Check out this morning’s newsletter for more info).
Here’s some pictures of the chimps enjoying a pomegranate forage the other day:

In memory of Uncle Kenny
My husband and I sponsored today in honor of Kenneth Currie Davis, who died last week at the age of 80. Like our friends here at the sanctuary, Uncle Kenny was a true survivor. He conquered polio at age 6, and went on to live a life full of love and adventure. He loved to fly his planes and watch fast cars, so I think this pic of Missy racing across Young’s Hill is fitting. He is deeply missed by his wife Frances, sister Bee, brother Jerry (my husband’s dad), and his pup Casey. Also kids Becky, Jenny and Susan and their families, and many more. Rest in peace, Uncle Kenny!
