Success!

August 26, 2008 by Sarah

Well, here’s the quick quick report: the chimps are outside and enjoying the beautiful day! I don’t think there was a dry eye in the house. Burrito was a little slow, and Negra was the last to join us, but they all came out eventually. Imagine – it may well be the first time Negra’s been outdoors since she was captured in Africa. What a long time coming.

Cheers! (We’ll post pictures when we get them loaded!).

I don’t think there are many dry eyes in computer land either!! Have been entertaining friends and missing my chances to connect, it’s nice to be back!!

oh my – I am just so happy for you all & the seven ..

I was thinking that Burrito would be the first outside to check things out .. I wasn’t surprised tho that Negra was the last to join in, she seems to be so calm, collected, strolls & goes with the flow on her terms in her time .. “it may be well the first time Negra’s been outdoors since she was captured in Africa” – this blows my mind & chokes me up

It sounds like it was worth the wait!!! I agree with Cindy, not a dry eye in computer land either. My joy is only a fraction of what the chimps are feeling. I can’t even imagine it, I’ll just relish the joy they are feeling. Thank you for taking the time to keep us posted. Love to all. XOXOXOXOXOXOXO

Hello all fellow “chimpaholics”! Incomprehensible, isn’t it?? What the chimp’s must be experiencing… So unbelievably awesome that they IMMEDIATELY started climbing the entire structure as soon as they came out. Don’t know why, but as deeply moving as the entire experience is, Negra makes it even more so for me. Boy, seeing her outside basking in the sun stirs something in the inner depths of my soul. Can you believe that Jamie? Signing “out!” and that little piece of grass that she has in her mouth in one of the photos – she would have had to reach just outside of the enclosure and pull it up ~ her first taste of grass. The sunshine warming their faces. The smells of the clean country air. The sounds of the birds and the Yakima river. The warm summer breeze. Keith, JB, Sarah and Diana ~ we are enormously proud of you and thankful for your incredible dedication. Lauren, Jamie, the volunteers and bloggers ~ it really does take a community to make this possible and to keep it going. Heartfelt appreciation from one of your fellow volunteers! A toast – here’s to the Cle Elum Seven from Heaven, may they live forevermore in the arms of the angels….may they somehow feel how very dearly they are loved by so many and may they know dignity. Cheers!
