Foxie’s getting presents!

August 6, 2008 by Diana

Foxie has some admirers who have sent her presents for her birthday.

gifts for foxie

Her friend Pam made delicious sugar-free muffins for all of the chimpanzees in her honor complete with frosting and apple-sticks for candles! (guess who the little muffin is for…… I’ll give you a hint, she has pink hair)

way to go Pam and everbody else who are able to create and get gifts out in time to her and her buddies!

wish I was able to attend & contribute at the “chimp party” at Patty’s with everybody.. sincere kudos to all of you!

Happy Birthday Foxie plus hundreds more!
I hope in time you will know & understand in your own way just how much everybody loves you! (and all the chimps of course!)

Don’t know if it’s my computer or loading problems but it seems one picture didn’t load (or it just loaded wierd) and the Burrito video says it’s no longer available, but when I played it, it was really dark, couldn’t really see anything….Just wanted to let you know.

The birthday presents look so fun. Hope you all have a wonderful day.

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU,
    HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU,
    HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEAR FOXIE
    HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU.

    WE LOVE YOU.

PS: Trixie, did you remember your Mom’s birthday?

Oh isn’t this fun! Margaret and Karen ~ I thought the same thing – I wish we could all conference in and sing them happy birthday. That is so funny – Trixie, did you remember your Mom’s bday? 😉

Dee, we may be doing more parties, will see how it goes. If we get together somewhere closer to Seattle next time, would that help or are you from out of state? You’ll be with us in spirit on Saturday 🙂

oh wow, thanks so much Shelly K!
I appreciate very much your offer.. I surely would if I could,
    but I’m in NYC.
I’ve already been thinking about and picturing you guys at the party making, creating & wrapping up gifts for the Chimps & having a good time..
along with your love & care in assembling your gifts, I will telepathically be inserting some love & warmth in those packages too! Thanks for your kindness, thinking of you guys too!

also can’t wait to hear about Foxie’s reactions in her receiving those new troll dolls that Cindy arranged – GO FOXIE!

Dee – as we go along and get more and more “sophisticated” we’ll have to set up live webinars (like Oprah did with Eckart Tolle’s “A New Earth” series)….where we schedule these parties in every state at the same time (being mindful of time zones) and can live chat about more creative ideas and ways to help. So I’m a dreamer 😉

yeah Shelly – I think I know how ya feel about this..
wish that everyone everywhere could be involved & help (those who are able to)..
    keep doing what ya do!

wouldn’t it be great if this was the norm to hear sometimes in our daily lives:
    “what are you doing tonight?”
“wrapping gifts and creating care packages for Chimps (or Elephants, or Monkeys, or any other captive beings)!
I’d just flip if I overheard someone say that!

Hi Dee ~ yeah, it would be great….you know that quote by Ghandi “be the change you wish to see in the world”…….there are literally millions of us who love animals (and that’s just in the US) ~ it’s so much fun getting more connected with folks who share that passion ~ and who are wanting to actively do something – anything – to help. Even if we’re not quite sure how. Guy by the name of Drew Nichol is coming Saturday – he’s a mortgage lender in the Seattle area by profession but also a true animal lover and supporter. He just decided, not long ago, to start a non-profit to help the mountain gorilla’s in the Congo because he just didn’t think that enough of us are helping a truly scary situation. I love that. He’s coordinating educational opportunities and fundraisers. Isn’t that great? He simply decided something needed to be done and just started doing something. I find that very inspirational 🙂 Not unlike what has happened here at the Sanctuary. Started with Keith wanting to do something to help and now look!! These incredible chimpanzee’s have been rescued and are being so well cared for by the team at the Sanctuary and it feels like we’re building a beautiful community of people who dearly love the chimps. How great is that?

    Shelly,
What’s happening Saturday? I am in the area, used to teach and am really interested in goving time to helping primates, the great apes in particular. I would love to get more involved but don’t have a lot of networking opportunities.
This blog has become a wonderful community.
    Thanks,
    Cindy

Hi Cindy ~ we’re having a Chimpanzee Enrichment-Making Party in Cle Elum at Patty’s house and we’d love it if you could come. Email me at [email protected] and I’ll send you the details. I may be off-line by about 5:00 tomorrow so if you’d like the info, please email me before then. Would love to talk with you more about your interest in helping the great apes, even if we don’t connect this Saturday ~ hope you can make it!

okay, I know I’m posting too much but I had to “sing” Foxie happy birthday today:

    Happy birthday to you,
    happy birthday to you,
    happy birthday dear Foxie,
happy birthday to you……..and many moooorrrre…

I wish I could go the enrichment party but I’m in Boston. I did send a Troll doll to Foxie for her birthday.

Are we going to have Birthday parties for all of our beautiful chimp friends? I already know what I want to send to Burrito and my Jamie girl.

Hi Debbie, we wish you could come, too. How awesome of you to send a Troll doll to Foxie for her birthday!!! That is so sweet, you already know what you want to send Burrito and Jamie 🙂

Hi Shelly – how great is that? It’s beyond great!

    I know & hear what you’re sayin’..
after unexpectedly (don’t watch much TV) seein’ a documentary a few years ago (with Fauna, lab & Air Force Chimps) I started helpin’ out immediately (after I wept for days after)..
armed with defiance & a huge bleeding heart with limited funds, I sought out the most desperately needed and helped out there. Including a severely desperate psuedo sancturary down in Texas (horrible) till the end of April o7..
after that, my boyfriend & I rescued a super sweet mama cat with one eye off the mean streets and found homes for the babies, etc. blah, blah, blah… we even buy bulk bird seed & feed the birds outside and pick up trash around the neighborhood … how cornball is that?

anyways – point is, is that it doesn’t matter how big or small your contributions to help are … as long as you’re able and would like to help. It can even be in your “backyard”. I think we all have some sort of responsibility to KNOW ABOUT all the dismal plights of our animal friends (along with other human affairs) and help out if ya can – the best way ya can – in ANY way ya can.. even if it’s just spreading the word and talkin’ about it!

for the last year or so, I’ve been keepin’ up with the Virunga Park Gorillas (w/ Diddy & Innocent and all the brave rangers!), so when you see Drew on Saturday, please relay for me a big heart-felt “THANK YOU” for all his time, compassion & efforts.

and that’s really great Debbie, ya got Foxie another troll doll!
let’s hope that Foxie has a good sensory overload love experience!
    GO FOXIE!

Have fun Shelly, Patty & everybody tomorrow!
