In Memory of Rita Yardley

Annie Norris has also sponsored today in memory of her mother, Rita.  Here’s what Annie had to say:

“I’m sponsoring a day of sanctuary in honor of my mom, Rita Yardley.  We lost her this past November and today would have been her 75th birthday.  She loved all animals, but had a special place in her heart for gorillas and chimpanzees.  We miss her dearly.”

Annie has recently started volunteering in the chimp house, and we couldn’t be happier to have her.  Thanks, Annie!

Happy Valentine’s Day

Happy Valentine’s Day! Chimp lover and mama extraordinaire Adrienne sponsored today in honor of Joey, Jakob and Billie Joe with this sweet note: “I love the Cle Elum 7 and want to honor my own family along with them on Valentine’s Day.” Jody is our resident mama here at Chimpanzee Sanctuary Northwest, having given birth to nine babies in her time in research. In memory of Uncle Kenny

My husband and I sponsored today in honor of Kenneth Currie Davis, who died last week at the age of 80. Like our friends here at the sanctuary, Uncle Kenny was a true survivor. He conquered polio at age 6, and went on to live a life full of love and adventure. He loved to fly his planes and watch fast cars, so I think this pic of Missy racing across Young’s Hill is fitting. He is deeply missed by his wife Frances, sister Bee, brother Jerry (my husband’s dad), and his pup Casey. Also kids Becky, Jenny and Susan and their families, and many more. Rest in peace, Uncle Kenny!
