In Memory of Rita Yardley

February 17, 2013 by Elizabeth

Annie Norris has also sponsored today in memory of her mother, Rita.  Here’s what Annie had to say:

“I’m sponsoring a day of sanctuary in honor of my mom, Rita Yardley.  We lost her this past November and today would have been her 75th birthday.  She loved all animals, but had a special place in her heart for gorillas and chimpanzees.  We miss her dearly.”

Annie has recently started volunteering in the chimp house, and we couldn’t be happier to have her.  Thanks, Annie!

What a nice memorial Annie. Having recently gotten to know you, I know your mom did a great job as a mother 🙂

What a lovely way to remember your mom, Annie. I bet she would be so thrilled that you are volunteering at the chimp house. I hope you had a wonderful day there.

Before she passed, we talked about the chimps and she knew how excited I was about getting involved and the possibility of volunteering. She would have been thrilled indeed. My mom was an avid reader and when I began talking of the CE7 she found an old Jane Goodall book, she had kept all these years, and gave it to me. I will cherish it always!

Today was a great day at the chimp house. Jackie was a blast to work with and I learned so much. It was wonderful meeting and chatting with you as well.
