Sponsor-a-day

In memory of Bill aka “Twister”

October 18, 2019 by Katelyn

Nicki Walters sponsored this day of sanctuary in memory of her late husband, Bill (aka Twister 🙂 ). She shared this beautiful message about today:

“This was the day that I met the man who would change my life forever. Although he is not longer with us, he lives on in so many ways, one being the Twister Structure for the Chimpanzees to climb. He received so much joy from watching these amazing creatures and getting to know them through the incredibly personal, beautiful and funny stories those who care from them share almost daily. I find it a bit kismet that there is now a Willy B who seems to be a big beautiful guy who likes to keep the peace of which was also my Bill. Through the roughest of times, these lovely beings provide me joy and strength and that is one great way that Bill’s spirit continues on. So I want to recognize all the caregivers that do so with such dedication and care to each personality and thank them for sharing in a way that makes us all feel a part of the magic they are creating for the apes and for us. Thank you for brightening my and Bill’s day on so many occasions, and giving me a way to honor Bill in such a special way.”

Mave and Willy B:

Nicki, thank you so much for continuing Bill’s legacy and giving us the opportunity to share in your memory of him. It’s been amazing to see the adventure, courage, curiosity and joy the chimpanzees have received from the Twister structure. We’re sending you all the good thoughts today as we celebrate Bill and his wonderful heart.

Happy Birthday Michael!

October 7, 2019 by Anna

Arlene, a longtime supporter of the chimpanzees, sponsored today in honor of her husband Michael’s birthday. She also wrote this very sweet note to Michael on his special day:

“Today is my husband, Michael’s, birthday. Michael, I hope today brings you as much happiness as you bring to everyone else, each and every day. You are a wonderful, caring, person inside and out, and deserve nothing but the very best today and always. Love you.”

Arlene and Michael, thank you so much for choosing to celebrate your special days by supporting these amazing 10 chimpanzees.

In memory of Carlene

September 13, 2019 by Katelyn

This day of sanctuary was sponsored by Joseph Garza in memory of his beautiful late wife, Carlene. Joseph shared this lovely message about Carlene:

“Today would have been Carlene’s 62nd birthday and she would have been overjoyed to have this as a gift. Carlene K. Olsen-Garza, a lover of all things wild and beloved follower of the Seven. She would be overjoyed to hear of the reunion of Missy and Honey B, just as I when I heard the news. I’ve not been able to attend HOOT these past few years, but the Seven are never far from my thoughts and wells wishes. My late wife Carlene would be thrilled with all that’s been done for these magnificent creatures and the hope that the Board of Directors, Staff and supporters have shown through their hard work and generous contributions. BRING THEM HOME!”

Joseph, thank you for continuing to hold the chimpanzees in your heart and allowing us to celebrate Carlene and her loving heart and legacy with you. Her legacy continues to grow here, now making a difference in the lives of Honey B, Willy B and Mave, as well as all who may follow them here to this sanctuary home. We think of you both always and are wishing you and your family a day filled with comfort, love and treasured memories.

Happiest day to you, Arlene!

August 19, 2019 by Katelyn

Our dear supporters, Michael and Arlene, are celebrating Arlene’s birthday today and Michael sponsored a day of sanctuary for the chimpanzees in her honor. These two humans have the biggest hearts and we’re so grateful to have them as part of our chimp (growing!) family.

Michael and Arlene, thank you so very much for always holding the chimps in your thoughts and your hearts and for the lasting difference you’ve made in their lives.

Arlene, we hope you’ve had the best of birthdays and that your heart is full. Happiest of days from all of us here!

In honor of Odd Man Inn

August 15, 2019 by Katelyn

Today is also sponsored by good chimp friend, Meg Lunnum, in honor of Odd Man Inn. Meg is a wonderful supporter of, and advocate for, so many animals and shared this lovely message about her gift:

“I would like to recognize another vegan animal rescue, Odd Man Inn. Until I met the chimps, I never knew that animal rescues favored vegan environments. Now that I know this, I am way more aware of vegan and vegetarian facilities for animals. Wendy and Josh rescue various domestic animals from all kinds of situations. The day I visited they were on their way to rescue a single Muscovy duck that was on the Columbia River. Rescue was successful and Paco has been adopted! They have a three-legged pig, Melvin and a pair of rock doves/pigeons named “the Mister McGillicuddy’s”, who sit on a nest! Odd Man Inn reminds me of the enthusiasm and love that all those who care for and about the Cle Elum Seven have for the chimpanzees. As another note: I can’t wait for the new chimps to arrive…”

Thanks so much, Meg, for sharing Odd Man Inn Animal Refuge and the wonderful work they do! And for always including the chimpanzees as you help make a difference in the lives of so many animals. We all so appreciate you!
