Pictures from yesterday’s party

June 14, 2009 by Elizabeth

Annie took a couple of plates to a private spot:

Negra, Jamie, and Missy enjoyed the banana chocolate chip muffins (Missy had at least five in her mouth and hands at one point):

Jody ate in her typical eating posture:

Foxie loved her new cow:

Thanks so much to all of the chimpanzees’ friends, volunteers, and supporters for making yesterday (and the last year) so wonderful!

A day in the life of a coconut

June 8, 2009 by Elizabeth

Burrito carried around his coconut for a couple of hours this morning (rolling it, shaking it, cradling it) before breaking it open to enjoy the goodness. Be sure your speaker volume is up so you can hear his contented grunts and moans.

Chillin’ outside

June 7, 2009 by Elizabeth

It’s a little overcast in Cle Elum today, but that didn’t stop the chimps from spending some time outside. Jamie patrolled the outdoor area wearing her troll scarf, Missy engaged Diana in a game of chase, and Annie had a quiet moment with a mirror.

“Imaginary” play

May 31, 2009 by Elizabeth

In the interest of full disclosure, I feel I should admit that I didn’t get around to taking any new photos or video today. Here, as a sort of peace offering, is a video from a couple of weeks ago of Missy playing with a ghost she found in the front rooms. Annie tries to get in on the action as well, and Burrito looks on from a distance.

(Okay, it’s not really a ghost — it’s just Jamie.)

Negra’s spot

May 26, 2009 by Elizabeth

Negra has a favorite spot in the outdoor area where she can look out over the valley. She often sits there with a blanket covering everything but her face and gazes out. Today she took her raisin board there for some peace and quiet.
