Today we celebrated spring with the chimpanzees by having a party filled with novel items and foods they love. One of these novel items was a cardboard cutout of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, which we hoped Cy would enjoy as he is a fan of bald men (remember his love of Stanley Tucci?!). Well, there were mixed reviews. Today’s blog video is all about the ups and downs of “meeting” Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson! We will share more about the rest of the party later, as there is simply too much good stuff to cover all in one day!
This is likely the funniest thing I’ve seen on the CSNW blog! It’s really quite sweet Glad to know the chimps got a kick out of it, too.

Dora smelled what The Rock was cooking!
Tbh, that pose and his facial expression are meant to intimidate. I wonder if poor Lucky Lou would have reacted the same way if he had been in his pink suit with his hands in his pockets and smiling.
Good old Terry to the rescue as always!
Rayne. Always fearless. Always unfazed. In control. Both Rayne and Cy discovered that Dwayne isn’t so scary when you realize he’s just a snazzy looking cardboard box! Was Dora trying to groom him?! Lucky’s reaction and ongoing curiosity was the best. Clearly she was wary of this new two dimensional figure, but she wasn’t going to leave him alone. She bravely took care of Dwayne the interloper. Or did she?! Keep a close eye on him, Lucky. He still looks suspicious to me.
Can’t wait to see the next episode!
All the king’s horses and All the King’s men should try to put Rock back together again. Cy knows, just as all chimps do not look alike, all bald headed guys are not equal in Cy’s discerning eye.
I’m wondering what would Jamie think of the boots on that otherwise lightly-clad party crasher?
As for the costume worn by Stanley Tucci in his latest film, I would also be curious to know how Cyrus might react. Indeed, given the subject matter of that movie, I wonder if Cy would approve or disapprove, assuming that our well-read, well-informed Cy professes a creed such as referenced in Stanley T’s latest star turn. For all I know, Cy may be a Secular Simianist.
I guess Lucky isn’t a fan of The Rock! It makes me laugh how she can’t seem to look away, despite finding the cutout scary. Just like her brother!
Oh, my, that was a mixed reaction meeting the “Rock”. I must say I found that cardboard cut out quite life like and scary especially when he was dressed up! Curiosity certainly rained and piqued the chimp’ interest- which is what enrichment is all about and what a novel idea to introduce this to the chimps.
I loved that Cy gave the “Rock” a kiss which was so sweet and showed Cy’s soft side. Lordy, I can’t wait to see the second part of the Spring video. Your ingenuity knows no bounds !!
