I did not attend yesterday’s Spring Party. Still, I had the privilege of watching all of the footage taken (thank you Ellen, Sabrina, Dusty, and Kelsi for your videography!) and putting together today’s video!
Please do let us all know what your favorite moment is!
Really apprecite it when you name the chimp in the picutr emoment by moment. I suppose I should reecongize them all, but I don’t.
Penelope – I do know how helpful that is! I normally do that. For this one, I believe every chimp was in the video, and I’d probably still be working on it if I had to label all of the clips. I settled on identifying Willy B and Honey B this time around.
Ooh, thanks, Diana, for 7 whole minutes of fun! It must have taken more than a minute to do!
So happy to see Neggie swinging herself up on to the platform instead of taking the stairs! that’s several times now in the last months we’ve seen her do that! I hope she got enough of the treats. Those avocados, they were so pretty, Foxie must have been over the moon!
What was in the (frozen?) bananas that made Honey B say no thanks? And Li’l Dora also seemed less than enthused. And Gordito, always Mr Polite.
I couldn’t see all of the names at the end of the video because the logos were blocking them out, but thanks to everyone who organized and helped with the party! I see that you guys had a bit of fun with The Rock yourselves-good!
Thanks, Linda. Negra has been using those muscles lately! I got the intel on the bananas – they had chow dust and a bit of honey on them. Willy B was clearly a fan. You can’t please everyone! I do love how polite she was about giving it back – “no thank you”. I believe I fixed the clip on YouTube so you can see the names now.
Thanks! I can’t imagine what’s not to like about bananas with honey, but to each her own!
Still, you can’t deny that they enjoyed having a day out of the ordinary, and I like that you took the time to make sure Neggie got a drink of some cider or juice, or whatever it was that was scarfed up before she could get to it!
I loved this video and the excitement and anticipation it generated with the chimps especially seeing the trays of delicious food (avocados?). Those chimps sure knew it was party time and who would have thought that a banana could generate such fun, mind you, I noticed Honey B wasn’t so thrilled with her banana whereas Willy B devoured his offering! I bet those darlings had a much needed nap after all that excitement…until the next time which brings us to Easter and those delicious goodies.
They sure did have fun! It’s good they have individual tastes – it keeps us on our toes. We opted to go for a non-denominational Spring Party this year instead of Easter. In this party, they had some cardboard eggs with treats in addition to everything else!
:sparkling_heart:
What a fun video! My favorite part was Honey B showing off her good manners by sweetly returning the bananas. That’s my girl!!
Wow!!! Go Neggie! She must be feeling energized with the coming of spring, because look at that girl go!
Honey B is very polite in her returning of the unwanted treat. If only she could be so polite when it comes to her smoothies…
We also tweaked her arthritis medicine recently, but my money is on actual Spring putting a new spring into Negra’s step. Honey B contains multitudes ?.
Saw the “mannequin” hanging in the chimps’ space. How about asking a local high school (or college) science dept to donate a human skeleton. That should stir up some curiosity!
We actually did have a (fake) human skeleton for a while! It was donated from a local chiropractor. Jamie in particular enjoyed it. We couldn’t give it to the chimpanzees, so it lived in various parts of the chimp house for a long time. Long enough for us to name him Kirk. https://chimpsnw.org/2022/07/play-play-and-more-play/
This video was so festive and sweet it made me cry (a happy cry of course!). The avocados were simply gorgeous!! Couldn’t get over Neggie swinging in as if she’d been getting lessons from Missy. And giving all those special kisses, no doubt about how much she appreciates the caregivers efforts and attention. Sigh…..
I was thinking the bananas were frozen because I was curious why everyone, with the exception of Mave, smelled them. I was thinking perhaps a frozen banana has no scent so the chimps were double checking what was going on. I just read your recipe for these creative banana pops and now I understand why the curious smell test! Lucky day for Willy B! Hopefully Honey B had two extra avocados to make up for her not wanting the banana.
Oh! I hope Foxie enjoyed her larger than life Troll cutout.
Hugs to this creative party planning team. You guys Rock! (Pun intended.) And thank you for brightening my day too.
