Portraits

August 28, 2024 by Kelsi

This morning I was lucky enough to be able to go around and capture some portraits. Portraits can be hard to get because the chimps are often moving around quite a bit or simply do not want there picture taken, as you will see at the end of Jamie’s photo series. Jamie threw her arm out and shook it to tell me she had had enough :). Fortunately, everyone else didn’t seem to mind me taking some pictures! So please enjoy!

Negra eating her eggplant at lunch:

Cy waiting for his breakfast chow:

Little Honey B, being Honey B:

Foxie and her doll:

Dora portrait series:

And of course Jamie:

Thank you, Kelsi. This is a great compilation of portraits of these magnificant, beautiful souls. In the last couple of portraits of Foxie she looks as though she is smiling – warms my heart.

I concur with the previous statements. Neggie, Cy, Beans, Tiny, Dora Belle, and Jamie J. are beautiful beyond words. I hope that they enjoy their portraits, too.

Nice photos, Kelsie, I noticed that above Honey B’s picture you referred to her as little Honey B. Is she a small chimpanzee or were you just using a term of endearment?

Well, Kelsi, a portrait speaks a thousand words and this fabulous collection speaks wonders. I love looking into the eyes of these amazing and intelligent chimpanzees. So beautiful and a huge thankyou for sharing this with us and for taking the time to capture their unique personalities.

Who can resist a closeup portrait of the chimps?! Not me. Especially if it’s a portrait of Negra. She looks pretty darn happy with her fresh eggplant. Cy looks as if he wringing his hands in anticipation over his chow delivery. Honey B seems to look more “relaxed” these days. Meaning her eyes do not look as intense….like she is staring into your soul! Foxie was in the mood to vogue for your camera! The expression on her face for the last two is blissful. Little Dora, sigh, she is so lovable. And Jamie is a Boss, but you always manage to break her mask allowing us to catch a glimpse of her softer inside. J
Beautiful Jamie may be trying to give you the bum’s rush, but her face looks as if she is secretly enjoying her session with you.
