Honey B vs Target

October 28, 2023 by Sabrina

Last time I wrote about Honey B, her and I were just beginning to get to know each other with short grooming sessions and casual interest on her part but now we have moved up to actual play for prolonged periods. To describe my first game of chase with Honey, it was like when you’re a kid and you’re playing outside with a new friend and then you realize the sun is going down, the street lights are coming on, and you need to go home but all you want is to continue playing with your friend. That’s not to say she is not still the ultimate agent of chaos…today’s video is evidence of that. Ms. B is left alone briefly with a plastic target which we hang on the mesh to get a chimp to stay stationary in one spot, usually during mealtime, and within a couple minutes she manages to unscrew the hook and take off with it. She is nice enough to come show us what she has and then, once she loses interest, she just drops it outside of the caging for us to collect.

Oh, Honey B! She’s a sneaky lady! I love her curiosity and intelligence.

Unbelievable! Or is it?! Forty one seconds. But at seventeen seconds I thought she had it. Nimble fingers on that gal! All I was thinking (and this goes along with your example of having a friend that you don’t want to leave) was what would Jamie think if she witnessed this maneuver. Talk about trouble if Jamie and Honey B formed an alliance.

I still remember Jamie undoing. a PVC pipe with peanut butter in it through the caging in the same way. And after 15 minutes, walking away from the peanut butter, because all she really wanted was the challenge.

Did you ever think she may be testing all of you. Dldn’t she point out the need to reconfigure the hose hanging apparatus (and had a mighty find time doing that). So, now she’s asking “please find some other thing to get us to sit on target.” At least she didnt destroy, she simply dismantled.

Great fun to watch her and guess how her mind works. Love the music you put this to… Thanks much 🙂 to both you and Ms. B

It’s a slow day when Ms. B has to come up with her own enrichment activity. She’s just too clever and has to find ways to challenge herself, fortunately she has understanding caregivers.

She is such a clever cookie that Ms.B.
It reminded me of monkeys who steel people’s phones, only to give it back when they get something ( food ) in return.
Do you think she had trading on het mind?

I finally understand my affinity with Honey B. Her curiosity of how things work. Sometimes you just have to take it apart. I did that a lot as a kid. Like our toaster LOL. And back when we had tube TVs, once with my mom was exasperated and trying to get us six kids to do homework took a tube out of the TV and said it was broke. But I figured it out and went to the brand new 7-Eleven that actually carried TV tubes and fixed it! LMAO thinking about it. That’s Honey B. I love her so.
