Ms. B: Agent of Chaos

July 22, 2023 by Sabrina

Honey B is definitely a one of a kind personality, she can be your best friend one minute and an agent of chaos the next. She knows what she wants and what she likes but it might change from minute to minute and you don’t know until your moment with her has gone from peaceful grooming to her screaming at you and possibly trying to poke you with her finger or a tool of her choice.

Since I started back in February, Honey has been mostly indifferent to me, she doesn’t really cause issues for shifting or meals however, if someone else is feeling spicy about shifting she’s definitely down to join in the cause and aid her fellow chimpanzee in their campaign against shifting. Recently Honey has been showing an interest when I come back from my weekend and go back to visit with the chimps before starting my morning duties. She will come up and breathy pant at me and offer to groom. These grooming sessions are fairly short, she usually loses interest pretty quickly if I don’t have anything fun to pick at and I’ve not yet experienced the sudden shift in mood but knowing it could come at any time is part of the fun when making friends with Ms. Honey B.

Yep, she’s a handful, that’s for sure. I’ve been so pleased for Mave and Dora “Mora” that Mave has found a friend given Honey B’s sometimes aloofness. And that Willie B has friends now, too, from their original group of 3. I’m glad Honey B gets into grooming at least sometimes and maybe her choices to connect more will grow over time. I guess we can say that she’s a “complicated” woman! Thanks for your patience with her and your perseverance in connecting as she’s willing to. She couldn’t have a better atmosphere in which to grow her social skills, that’s for sure!

Aw, it’s nice to be missed, Sabrina!
I guess your weekend homework is to acquire scabs or freckles!

That’s my girl! I love her cunning mischief and hysterical antics. She seriously cracks me up. From day one in their arrival video. I just adore her.

I have to agree with Paulette regarding Honey B. I love her and always look forward to hearing what mischief she has been up to. She is too smart for her own good. ?

Sounds like you need to stay on your toes and “B-ware” for the day Honey B finally gifts you the experience of enjoying one of her sudden shifts in mood. Like everyone, I adore Honey B. Her intelligence radiates through her eyes, much like Jamie. To be able to connect and form a friendship with either of those two women would be such an honor. An extraordinary experience! Lucky you!

Love the photo with the purple blanket.

Kathleen, I completely resonate with your comment about Jamie’s and Honey B’s intelligence that “radiates through their eyes” (what a great way to describe it!) and with your comment about the honor it would be to have both as friends. The early photos of Jamie drawing just slay me!

An agent of chaos? Well, I do understand that Honey B does enjoy starting her day with coffee. Quod erat demonstrandum…

She ain’ t gonna change…Ms. B is always gonna have that riot grrrl edge to her, and remain cute as a button, too…

I just heard about the wildfire around Yakima. Are you all safe?

They’d likely post to let us know if not. When they began the expansion, they took the yearly threat into consideration, and are using the cattle to keep grasses down up on the hill.
That being said, I’ll keep my fingers crossed until October
