We are really appreciating the break from the intense summer heat here in Cle Elum and the chimps seem to be enjoying it too. Both groups enjoyed a lunch forage today that included strawberries, blackberries, fingerling potatoes, bell peppers, and whole heads of baby Iceberg lettuce! All day today the chimps have been grooming and playing (mostly playing) with each other- so it’s been a pretty good day. Check out the video for more. 🙂
Two days ago, J.B. wrote about Willy B’s procedure. We’re happy to report that he went back with his group first thing yesterday morning and is doing great! We are so grateful to Dr. Erin and the team of professionals she brought together to help us ensure that we are giving Willy B the best possible care he can receive.

The cattle are also enjoying this weather in their extended summer pasture!

First off, I just LOVE that photo of Annie! I love it for a couple of reasons, but one of them is that Annie has cleverly positioned herself in the sunlight with no sun in her eyes to distract her. And Rayne! Get out. That expression. Peeking! She is too much.
Grace, your video had me smiling from ear to ear. Burrito doing a headstand ON Jamie?!! My oh my, how far they have come! Jamie’s snarky sock toss. Romper Room Seven! That’s where it’s all happening. Dora is so flexible, which is a good thing since Honey B and Mave seemed to pulling her in different directions.
If only you could just be the roving photographer. What fun you would have!
Seeing these lovely creatures having so much fun in the companionship of one anothern is a beautiful sight. Wait a minute, slow down that video. Is that Willie B’s medical exam sock that Jamie is tossing around? Shenanigans one and all.
I love that picture of Annie.
Its got so much texture to it, like she’s wearing some weird mask. And I’m so glad that Willy B is back in his tribe, Thank you:revolving_hearts:
After my complex day of paperwork and obligations, to watch these folks at play is just what the doctor ordered! Those headstands (with butts in the air) are delightful to see and watching everyone forage, play, groom and cavort together is so heartwarming. Thanks for this very delightful compilation, Grace!
Great to see Willy back with his pals and taking the sensible option of watching the shenanigans from the safety of the next room mostly! By the way, has anyone ever told Burrito he has a heart condition?? Jamie seems to let him get away with a lot.
The suggestion of raising money for your own cardiac ultrasound is a good one…..now you have three that could benefit, and knowing that some of the others may have a need for it in the future. You could open a fund, let us all know and just see what happens. Also, there may be a hospital that is willing to donate one as they upgrade their equipment, but either way it would be a good start.
I am glad to see that Willy has returned to cause a display at his appointed time. I also like the beautiful photograph of Annie. As for Rayne, I can only surmise that her apparent impersonation of Terry in his Bronx Cheer mode amused the ladies of her social circle.
Beautiful Annie….
I cannot believe we’ve seen the day when Burrito can get as rough and tumble with The Boss as Foxie does! Incredible how far those two have come!
And I absolutely love that Mora B are all 3 oblivious to the dudes, and just keep doing their thing! Thank you, Grace!
Wow! Save The Chimps just posted a short video of Kaleb and his birthday cake, and I thought at first it was Burrito! Same freckles and black lips, brow ridge, even some of his food squeaks! Also born and raised as a pet
Yay!! Willy B is back!! Love to see everyone playing! Burrito is such a ball of energy!! Hard to keep up with him!!
This is the very first time reading about such a wonderful sanctuary for these beautiful intelligent, hilarious chimpanzees that were rescued by your organization. I applaud each and every one of you for your true commitement, and giving the chimps so much care and love. I had tears for the treatment that these beautiful souls endured formerly. To be saved at last b loving humans who truly care and the gratitude on the chimps expressions, and in their grateful hearts. I truly love all God’s creatures, they are our families in life to love and respect as all of us have a duty on this earth to fulfill. I am so glad I found you and now I have my duty to help as much as I can.
Thank you for all the care and love that you share.
