“Today, of all days, is a day that my 16 beloved friends in Cle Elum need to celebrate with me, with all of us. Today is Jane Goodall’s 88th birthday! Happy Birthday Jane! Thank you for creating HOPE in a world that so desperately needs it, now more than ever. Thank you for scattering and planting all your Seeds of Hope amongst us. Hope lives and thrives at Chimpanzee Sanctuary Northwest. I feel so fortunate to witness it, to feel it, every single day by following the lives of 16 chimpanzees, 4 cattle, 1 barn cat, and the compassionate staff, through this blog. Clearly each staff member, volunteer, intern, and donor has a seed of Jane within them. In your individual ways, you inspire all of us. Thank you Jane Goodall for being my inspiration and for helping me to see that even the smallest action can create big ripples. Each of us can make a difference.”

I wanted to be Jane Goodall when I was a little girl.
Apparently, I announced when I was 3 that I was going to “Raise Chimps in New York”
It actually still says a lot about me, city girl, who loves animals.

I had the opportunity to cancel my class and hear her speak years ago in Wisconsin. I have few regrets in life but that is one of them.
What an eloquently expressed tribute Kathleen. Happy Birthday to the one and only Jane Goodall! I cannot add anything to what has been said except to echo that the seeds planted in my soul are fed and watered every day by CSNW… usually the water is tears of happiness and love. 🙂

Our beautiful Bubba at his best! A scarf at the ready to play with Chad, and maybe get a massage, a block ready to go into his mouth and a box to pretend he’s anything he wants to be…..pirate, racing driver etc etc. Who knows what goes through that intelligent, playful mind. No wonder we all love him so much. Very appropriate for such a wonderful lady’s special day. Happy Birthday Jane.
