In memory of Linda

April 4, 2022 by Katelyn

Many thanks to our long-time friend, Lisa Stuverud, for sharing your special day by sponsoring a day of sanctuary in her sister-in-law, Linda’s, memory:

“I share this day with my dear sister-in-law Linda Vizzare. This has been “our day” for the last 43 years and although she has been gone for the past 8 years, I still enjoy remembering the time we had together learning about who were then the Cle Elum 7 at Chimpanzee Sanctuary Northwest. Her first love was Burrito and his happy dance, mine was Jamie and her boots…it will always make me think of her! As the sanctuary has grown and the 7 are now 16, plus 4 bovine, I am full of gratitude to have all this to help keep her memory close in my heart.

‘If there ever comes a time when we can’t be together, keep me in your heart, I’ll stay there forever.’ Winnie the Pooh”

Lisa, all of us are sending you all the good thoughts for a day full of joyful and comforting memories as you celebrate your and Linda’s special day.

Wouldn’t Linda have enjoyed seeing how Jamie and Burrito have become closer pals recently. They are a dynamic duo.

Lisa, that is my all time favorite quote from that silly old bear. Winnie the Pooh was/is such a wise fellow. It is deeply touching to discover how the residents of Young’s Hill touch so many lives. I wish you a day full of joyous memories.

Thank you, Lisa, for your tribute to Linda and to the sanctuary and for your support all these years. I also was first in love with Jamie and then Burrito but I’ve expanded my affections to include every single one for their various personalities and for their perseverance in the lives they’ve lived. They each are certainly testaments to the Dali Lama’s words “Never Give Up.” Staff and donors are, too. I’m grateful for people like you and Linda and all the supporters, staff and beings who are part of the sanctuary. That includes BK’s tuxedo-nature too, of course!

I never thought I’d see Jamie kissing Burrito…
    Thanks, Lisa!

    Thank you for this!

What a very special friend Linda must have been. Thank you for sharing your day with all of us.
