Ups and Downs

August 13, 2021 by J.B.

We did a number of dyadic intros today – some great, some disappointing. Honey B and Terry did not hit it off despite Terry’s best efforts, so that relationship will take some time to develop. Neither was injured but Honey B did end up with a souvenir from their encounter – a mouthful of Terry’s hair. And much to our dismay, Willy B would not even give Dora the time of day! She was heartbroken. But there were some promising signs near the end of their meeting and they will certainly meet again, perhaps when Willy B is less distracted. Thankfully, Mave – as she always does! – put on a masterclass in chimp introductions when she met an anxious Dora and tailored her behavior perfectly so as to engage Dora without upsetting her.

But the greatest story of the day by far was when Honey B met Dora. These two had lived together in the past. As we saw with Terry, this doesn’t guarantee a happy reunion. This, however, was the happiest of reunions and it took us completely by surprise.

They met at the mesh and instantly started breathy panting and grooming. When the door opened, they hugged and then launched into a game of chase. We’ve never seen Dora smile so much! Honey B doesn’t know how to dial it back like Mave does and we were afraid that Honey B would overwhelm Dora with her rambunctiousness but Dora loved every minute of it. They wrestled, tickled, ran, and laughed, and then did it all again. Here you can see Honey B playfully dragging Dora across the floor by the feet.

And here’s a still from a short video I took. The look on Dora’s face says it all. There’s nothing like reuniting with an old friend.

Well, that’s a pleasant surprise, JB!
Pity there’s still some work for Terry.
And I’m heartbroken for L’il Dora….but friends are forever!

That’s two ladies shot him down….maybe Terry needs to work on his “excited” face!

I’m inclined to agree…maybe Terry comes across as “a little much”
to some of the distaff residents of his neighborhood. And really, Willy, must you play the cad? Alas, Dora and Honey B compensated for the other two introductions. As the song has it, “Girls just wanna have fun…”

Oh how I would love to hear you tell all the details from the meetings between Honey B and Terry and Willy B and Dora. Instead, I’ll enjoy knowing Honey B and Dora found sheer delight in their reunion. These pictures say it all, especially Dora’s face in that last photo. Now I’m curious if these two gals were super close at WW — like Missy and Annie. And speaking of Missy….there is something about Honey B in the second photo where she’s dragging Dora that makes me see mama Missy in her.

Me, too, Kathleen, I’d love the details! It’s such a delight to receive these updates on how everyone is getting along in the process of connecting with each other (or not). This move has been a BIG DEAL for all of them and has upset the normal routine of things so I’m happy to learn of all the success stories as well as the “not yets”. Thanks to all for making my heart happy every single day, including loving blog responders!

So nervewracking! I figured if there was going to be a problem it would be with honey b. I am just overjoyed that she had fun with Dora! Today I found myself acting like honey b. I was fidgeting around with stuff in my bed and I thought oh Lord, this is like Honey b when she’s building her nest! :see_no_evil: and laughed at myself. :joy:

can’t wait for more intros! So exciting.

Thank you J.B. for the update.
Terry seems to me someone who Really Wants To…….with too much energy, but he means well.
I could see it in the video where he meets with Mave; she just steps away, but Honey gave it to him straight I assume…
Dear Dora, maybe Willy B. will change his mind, and she now has Honey B. How dilightful to see those two reunite and hit it of. That makes me so happy!
And Then There Is Mave. What a woman. Wise, loving, forgiving, and a great hugger.
I wish you all patience and courage in the introduction process.

A few days ago Honey B was projectile spitting across the corridor at Dora, and Dora had such a shocked and disappointed look on her face. Glad they have got over that and are buddies!!!!

I remembered that, too, Karen, that’s why I’m (pleasantly) surprised!

Yes, of course it would be Honey B who’d be less than accomodating. (But she’s still my favorite.) And bless Mave for being such a calm influence (this incident has raised her stock in my eyes). Poor Dora. I hope Willy B will pay her some attention. Lovely to read about Honey B and Dora. What a day, what a day!

Mave’s stock has been sky-high since she arrived, I think!
