Today’s blog has many themes. For starters, it’s Nutmeg’s 6th Birthday! Chad served up some extra grain for all the cattle for his special day, though Betsy was pretty sure it was just her day. Nutmeg is still a big sweet mama’s boy. Happy 6th Birthday Nutmeg, we are so lucky to have you here!
I literally squealed when Chad shared this photo of Nutmeg. I mean, look how dapper he looks and that curl on the top of his head is killing me!
The excitement keeps going! We are looking for artists for a contest! This is such a neat opportunity! The sanctuary is collaborating with the students at CWU, Primate Awareness Network and our local art gallery, Gallery One. One design will be selected and there will be a cash prize too! I almost forgot to mention, the chosen design will be printed on limited edition sway and be sold to benefit the chimps! There will also be a people’s choice award. Check out the Gallery One’s website for more details and peruse our blog if you need inspiration! Or maybe these portraits will awaken your creativity! I am so excited to see what people will create and how they will capture the chimp’s personalities!
Burrito is really enjoying this orange ball right now.
Foxie has the most piercing eyes.
Jamie.
Honey B.
Willy B.
Our wish-list is getting quite full. We have added our day to day items, future items for our new building, and lots of dolls for Foxie! We are trying to get as many of her favorite dolls as possible because they are getting harder to find lately!
I like the photograph of Nutmeg eating his birthday oats from the hand of one of the humans which he and his mother and friends keep for company. A few months back, Chad and Anthony treated this blogs’ readers to their collection of haikus (or, is that “hai-cow”?) which the cattle had inspired. For Nutmeg’s birthday, may I offer the following:
Curly-haired cow’s boy
Mows mountainside meadows. moos
And that ain’t no bull!
I wish Nutmeg many a reason to kick up his hooves on his birthday and as he begins another graze around the sun.
Looks like a “fancy Dan” with that hair do……………
Whew! At the end of every long and complex day my delight is reading the blog, seeing the fabulous faces of all the exquisite old souls who call CSNW home, including the humans (of course) and being treated to tales and pics of their antics. Can’t tell you all how much good it does my own soul! I need to look at the wish list this weekend, clearly! Thanks for mentioning it. Now pardon me while I go revisit at least 5 blog posts and pics!
Happy Birthday Nutmeg!! Six years old! It looks as if Chad styled your amazing hairdo just for your celebration. (Seriously, did that fantastic little curl really just appear on its own?!?) I wish you all the alfalfa you can eat. xoxo
Can’t wait to see the winning entry to the contest, how exciting. You have so many unbelievably talented artists fans. What a great idea.
That photo of Mr. B with his red boomer ball is excellent. Jamie’s gentle smile is beautiful.
I love her pose! “Stay Foxie, my friends “. All dolls snatched up off the list 5 hours later!
The contest is exciting! Three weeks isn’t long, though. I hope you run it again next year
Happy birthday, Nutmeg! What an adorable hunk you are!!
