Have you watched John Krasinski’s Some Good News show yet? It’s one of my favorite things to have emerged in this stressful time we live in right now. He highlights all the good things that are still happening around the world right now and some of the people that are doing them. I highly recommend it to help keep your spirits up! While our version of “some good news” isn’t necessarily that things have changed around here, but more so that the sanctuary remains intact, just as it should be.
Here are some things that haven’t changed:
Jody continues to harvest plants growing on Young’s Hill. Here she is with a sample of newly planted pine tree:
And she continues to know the best way to relax around here:
Jamie is still cooler than I’ll ever be:
And her passion for all things boots burns strong. Here she is with the makings of her afternoon nest:
Burrito will always be playful AND handsome:
Other good news items for the day (sadly not pictured):
Honey B vigorously testing out a new bench Anthony built for the chute, Willy B gazing at newly taken photos, Mave drinking cupfuls of water from an enrichment pool, Negra head nodding from underneath a mountain of blankets, Foxie strolling leisurely on Young’s Hill with her friends and Missy/Annie playing chase.
One thing that has notably changed at the sanctuary, we’ve had to temporarily lay off the vast majority of our volunteers and interns. Since we all miss each other, we put together a Zoom online meetup last night so we could all catch up with each other:
What’s your good news for the day?
Maureen says
So sad to be apart from others who share your passion. Hope the Zoom session helped. And hope you can be back to your full complement once we return to something like normal.
Love to all, and so glad to still see happy chimpanzees.

This post is definitely one of my top good news if the day! We took an early morning walk with our special four legged friend Rango. Many birds along our walk logged on eBird. Gave my dog and the visiting neighbors dog a bath. Enjoyed the salvia’s visitors of bees and humming birds.

My good news for the day is that my granddaughter Sofia 14 had surgery yesterday
and game through safe and sound and is recovering nicely. Many prayers were said
for her. Also, had to re-plant my pot garden after monsoon rains caused drowning
of my plants. But, all have been re-planted and looking just fine. I have smiles
just like those chimps do on their good day. Thank you.

Our good news is we are about to plant 22 arborvitaes in our backyard to 1)give us privacy, and 2)to eliminate mowing a hill that is dangerous. We’ve been talking about this for the five years we’ve lived here, and it’s finally starting to happen. On a side note, all of our birds will have new homes to live in when they’re a little bigger. We serve the best bird seed/fruit/peanuts in the neighborhood, and we installed a pond 2 years ago, so the birds keep moving their nests closer and closer to our backyard. We also had two frogs leave several hundred eggs in our pond last week, so we’re waiting for tadpoles. Love all your good news…the best being you all are healthy and the chimps are thriving! Thanks for all you do!

John Krasinski’s Some Good News show is indeed wonderful. I’ve had friends from around the world talk about it, it’s having a global reach! You know you can submit your own reports to John, maybe some happy news about the chimps at CSNW will make the show. My good news is that today is my Mother’s birthday, she is 85. She is self isolating with her dog, and is strong and healthy. I wish she was closer, but she’s happy where she is. Thanks for the beautiful photos, best to all.

Hi Betsy, I think you have an excellent idea here. Can’t think of better “Good News” than watching the chimps live their sanctuary life. Yes, John Krasinski needs to do a little news story on CSNW. Think of the new supporters he could reach. And let’s face it, 365 days a year these chimps and bovines too, are the purest answer to a happy heart. Happy happy joy joy!

I think the gator races would be a hit with everyone.

no fabulous news here, just a lot of work. But no bad news, either, so that’s good.
The weather is going from 60s on Tuesday to snow for higher elevations tonight…smh…
I guess the good news is that tomorrow is Friiidaaaay!

I join Diane in sharing that the blog and the pictures are the good news of my day as I sit to work from home, and of course, check emails and come across the newsletter. Thank you for taking care of our friends. You are in our hearts.

Thank you Anna for the tip on “Some Good News”. I watched the video from 04/12 and it had me in tears but in a good way.
Speaking of Some Good News, it certainly warms my heart to see my favorite chimps still living the good life. Oh that take-my-breath-away top photo of Jamie. Perfect. I am looking forward to seeing the Californians lounging on their new bench in the chute. And I have to ask, did you waltz around with your laptop or iPad of the Zoom meeting so the chimps could say “Hello!” to their friends? : )

Can anyone tell me how/where/what time that good news show is on? I live in NJ. I could sure use a show like that.
Linda C says
I’ve only seen it on TouTube, Elaine. Haven’t watched it yet; there was a livestream today, but it was “private”

Hi Elaine! Here’s how you access the Facebook site Anna mentions:
• Just click on the link in the very top of this post, click on the words in red that read ” Some Good News”. This will take you to the Facebook site to watch.
• You do not need to be on FB to view the videos or follow their “good news”. I am not on FB but many sites allow you access, you are just locked-out from liking or posting.
• Wait for the page to load in full, then as you scroll down the page you will eventually get a “pop-up display” showing the organizations logo and a form asking you for your email and password Login. Ignore this and click on “Not Now” at the bottom of that box.
• Boom! You now have access to the Facebook page, this allows to view the videos and read the posts and comments. This goes for any organizations Facebook site (like CSNW!) but it does not work for individuals personal pages, just organizations.
I hope this helps you! Have fun.
