A little background with today’s blog..
While Foxie clearly has a passion for the many dolls she owns, she sometimes has an odd way of showing it. In addition to hugging and carrying her dolls around lovingly, she also seems to use her dolls to test out unknown situations and will put them in purposeful “danger” so she can go rescue them.
This afternoon I let the “girl gang” have access to Young’s Hill through the new Phase 1 chute. All 5 girls were quickly on patrol and had to investigate Door Y which is an access point (currently closed off) to the Greenhouse. The rest of the chimps were hanging out securely in the Playroom (Willy B, Honey B, Mave and Negra) and the front rooms (Burrito while he recovers), with the Greenhouse temporarily closed off as a buffer between the groups.
Foxie just received a new pair of Strawberry Shortcake dolls today in the mail that she seems quite fond of. Of course she toted her dolls around with her while she investigated Young’s Hill:
But then when Foxie went to check out Door Y, she decided to also stick her arm through the gap under the door and place her new dolls on the decking in the Greenhouse:
While I can’t really guess her true motivation for this bold move, it’s entirely possible she just needed her dolls to “test the waters” of this strange situation. Seeing no immediate harm come to her treasured possessions, Foxie recovered her dolls and kept on with her day:

I’m curious about all the new structures brought up in the blog. I understand how busy everyone is so at your convenience would you post another ‘birdseye view’ of current arrangement. What is the ‘Y’ door? And how does the chute connect to which part(s)? You’re all wonderful people. Thank you for everything you do! Peace ~

It’s all very complicated right now, but Door Y is the door that the chimps have been using for many years to access Young’s Hill from the Greenhouse. The new Chute now connects Young’s Hill to our new expansion part of the building. This gives us the chance to alternate the 2 groups on Young’s Hill.

Such a dear girl is Foxie…Her doll “story” really grabbed at my heart…It seems each time I think it’s impossible for me to have even MORE love & deep affection for these beautiful & innocent beings, I prove myself wrong…It appears there will always be yet ONE more moment or story, (when I’m already so incredibly awed by all ten of them), when my heart feels like it’s at back of my throat from my emotion…

I’m wholeheartedly with Debi. One more reason to love little Foxie.

Hi, Anna!
I sent the head of the “Foxie Girl Squad” a couple of trolls a month or so back, and some notebooks for The Boss….I wasn’t sure about the trolls because of bellybutton sequins (which I think one could pop out with a nutcracker…not that y’all have need for nutcrackers there! 🙂 ), but I was so happy to have finally found some trolls! Were they okay? Hasbro has their headquarters here, and apparently just got the license for the trolls, so I found them one day when I went off island.

Never mind, Anna…Katelyn got back to me and said they were approved.

Absolutely fascinating. I’m sure she was testing the waters. “Was there anyone there?” “Would they hurt my doll?” (especially NEW ones!)
Would anything Behind The Door hurt my dolls?” Not to compare them strictly on levels of intelligence but my dog would stop dead in his tracks when he saw a plastic bag on the street. Once I went up and just touched it, he was cool with it. Off we go on our walk. Perhaps a bit of the same logic. What a girl.

A very interesting post… as you indicate.. who knows what goes on in the deep and ever curious mind/s of any of them but Foxie clearly has a plan.. whatever that might be.. Your idea seems quite plausible. Every time we are all touched by things like this.. or pretty much any other daily event… we are reminded of how CSNW has changed the lives of the 10… the 7 a decade (plus) of change and adjustment under their belt. Wondering what a decade forward will bring… but one day at a time is quite good enough!
