One of the chimpanzees’ favorite activities this time of year is going out on Young’s Hill and harvesting an armful (or mouthful) of the wild plants that grow out there, and bringing them back into the greenhouse to eat or wadge. Jody, especially, is a plant harvesting fiend.

I find myself moved to tears looking at the delight on Jody’s face and thinking of how such a lovely experience was a universe away before Chimp Sanctuary Northwest. Thank you so, so much…JB and Diane, Caregivers, Volunteers, Contributors.
Blessings.
I like the fifth photo where she looks like she’s kissing the grass stalk. I’d like to think she’s giving her own version of chimp thanksgiving for their bounty. 🙂
All the “7” are beautiful in their own way. But, I think Jody is the Miss America of the Chimps! She has such distinctive features that differ from the others.
It s wonderful to Jody enjoying the bounty of Young s Hill . Every chimp enjoys some thing different , setting them apart ,, Good to see them living such a wonderful life, Love you Jody,
I think this example of wild behavior is very exciting to see! It speaks to the strength and resilience of these dear beings to reclaim any remnants of their own nature despite their grim histories. It also says wonderful things about the Sanctuary’s program of thoughtful enrichment activities, in this case the regular forages on Young’s Hill. Kudos to all!
She looks so healthy and beautiful! The staff does an outstanding job providing love and care- it really shows. I love you Jody! So proud of you!
beautiful photos – Jody looks so pretty holding flowers in her mouth.
